-Riley's POV-
It's been 5 months and he only comes here at the end of every month. I come here every day in case I might miss him. It was like love at first sight. When I wait for him to come back, I get a small feeling in my chest that he won't then he does and I'm happier than ever. I start surfing contests soon. I don't know if I can be here if and when he returns. It's really weird to me how they go around the side of the mountain to leave. They couldn't live around here. Nobody does. They had to have a car in order to leave this beach. I don't see why they would walk. It's about 20 miles until you even reach a single house.
I followed them one time and when I rounded the rocks, they were gone. I didn't see them anywhere.
I come back to the present and realize that I'm about to crash this wave.
The water hits me hard and I fall into the water. I go back up to the surface and another wave hits me, taking me back under. I couldn't even take a breath up there. I feel strong arms wrap around me and pull me to shore where my board now lies. I choke on water, but eventually cough it out. I look up at the man that saved me and thank him for saving me.
He flashes a million dollar smile. "It was no problem."
I get up and grab my board after dusting myself off.
"You must be Riley."
"Yeah. Who are you?"
"I am Lui. My brother has said much about you. I didn't know you were as appealing as he said. I thought he might have been over exaggerating."
"Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
"Yes. Sorry if it sounded as if not one."
"What is with the formalness? And who are you talking about? I don't know your brother. If I did, I'm sure I'd remember someone related to such assholeyness," I say gesturing to him.
He smirks, "I figured you would be polite, considering I just saved you from drowning." I scoff and he just dismisses it. "I believe you have grown quite fond of my brother, Derrick. You've met him before. Blue hair, pale skin, about the shortest and skinniest boy on the planet. He's quite annoying as well, but I doubt you think so."
"You're Lui? He said you're his favorite big brother, yet you find him annoying."
He shrugs. "I hate the spoiled brat."
I glare at him with a hand on my hip. "You, Sir, can go screw yourself."
I begin walking away, but he catches me by the arm and turns me back to look at him. "You miss him don't you?"
"What's it to you?"
"Well, what if I told you that I could help you with your longing to see my little brother?"
My eyes narrow as I watch him skeptically. "I'd ask what for?"
"Just to be a "good person"."
"Why would I want your help?"
"Because I'm the only one to provide it."
"How could you help me?"
He smirks with an evil glint in his eye.

My eyes are about the size of saucers now after him telling me everything.
Mermaids? That can't be possible. Can it? How do I know he's not lying to me? "How do know you're not lying to me?"
He smiles. "I'll show you."
He leads me to where Derrick and his father always disappear to. He jumps into the water and I see a flash of light disappear as quick as it came.
I get pulled into the water and I splash around for a moment then stop when I hear Lui's voice.
"Stop thrashing about and open your eyes."
I do as told and when I open my eyes, I gasp, making me swallow the sea water. I hear him sigh as he swims me back to the surface. After my coughing attack, I stare at his tail. "Y-You're a Mermaid!"
"Don't yell. And the proper name for my gender is Merman."
I scoff at his snobbiness. "Whatever."
"I'm not the only one either. Derrick is as well."
I smile at the mention of Derrick. "What color is his tail?"
He smirks, "The same color as his hair."
"But his hair changes everytime I see him."
"He is a very indecisive child."
I hate the way this guy talks about Derrick. "Why did you tell me all this anyways?"
"I wanted to see what you would say if I told you."
"Told me what?"
He smiles evilly. "That I can help your longing for my brother. All you had to do is give me something in return."
"What do you want?" I ask skeptically. I don't think I can trust this guy.
"Make Derrick fall in love with you."
"I was already trying that anyways."
"Then it shouldn't be hard. The little bastard says I love you and you will no longer have to wait forever to see him. You will no longer long for him. No longer feel empty without him."
I sigh but smile. "A favor for a favor?"
"Exactly."
