The Next Step Season 8

6 - I Hope I Get It

A/N: Okay so I definitely named this part after 2 previous episodes of The Next Step, but it's such an iconic one that I had to use it. I hope you enjoy!

The next day, Giselle was sat in the office doing paperwork when she heard a knock at the door. She looked up and immediately grinned.
"Daniel!" she said, as she went to hug her best friend.
"Hi! It's so good to see you!" Daniel said, happy to be back.

Nick walked in and Giselle let go of Daniel.
"Nick, this is Daniel, he's going to be our guest choreographer for the auditions!" Giselle said. The two men shook hands.
"It's really good to meet you, I've heard great things about you." Nick said. Daniel laughed.
"Ah, well that's kind of you. Especially considering the rocky past I had at The Next Step. I'm just really happy to be back."

The dancers began to filter into Studio A, anticipating the day to come. A-troupe and B-troupe both felt heavy as they had already lost teammates the day before.
"I just can't believe Lily's gone." Kenzie said to Amy as they walked in.
"I know. She's such a big part of our team, it feels strange to go on without her." Amy replied.

As Becca walked in, Richelle went up and hugged her.
"Hi!" Richelle said. "I'm so sorry, with all of the craziness yesterday I didn't get the chance to speak to you. How have you been? I haven't seen you since J-troupe."
"I've been good! I left to go to another Regionals team a couple years back but this year we didn't make it to Nationals so I decided to come back to audition!" Becca replied with a smile.

"Yeah, well, I wouldn't get too comfortable. I'm going to wipe the floor with both of you today." Skylar sneered as she walked past. Richelle gave her a stern look.
"Just ignore her," Richelle said, steering Becca away. "She's still just bitter she got kicked out last year."

Richelle took Becca over to her team and introduced her.
"It's really nice to meet you, Becca. Good luck today." Henry said as he shook her hand. Kingston glared at her.
"Just so you know, you'll never replace Lily." he said. Hurt and confusion crossed over Becca's face.
"What do you care?" Kenzie asked Kingston. "She told me you guys broke up."
"It's none of your business." Kingston said, purposely bumping into Kenzie as he walked past her.
"Sorry about him," Amy said to Becca. "Don't take it personally, he can get a bit funny when it comes to competitive dance. It gets to his head."

"Okay everybody! Welcome to Nationals auditions day 2!" Giselle shouted. "I'd like to welcome our special guest choreographer, and former Next Step alumnus, Daniel!" Everyone clapped as Daniel ran into the studio.
"Hello everyone! I'm gonna run you guys through some choreo. I'll do it twice for you, then you have an hour to practice before you present to us. From that we'll choose your team!"

Daniel went through the choreography quickly, and everyone was shocked by its difficulty level. It was a mix of technical and stylistic, and would really highlight which dancers were versatile enough for the Nationals team.
"Okay everybody, you now have one hour to practice. Good luck!" Daniel said.

Amy and Piper shared a worried look.
"Are we going to get this in time?"

In the Music Room, some of the dancers were rehearsing. Richelle had the choreo down, and looked over to see Ozzy struggling with part of it.
"Here," Richelle said. "Put your arms like this." She stood in front of him adjusting his arm placement, and looked up to find their faces close together.

They stared at each other for a few seconds, close enough that their noses almost touched.

She then quickly moved back and smiled.
"There! Much better!" Richelle said, and promptly left the room. Ozzy tried to focus on his dancing but Richelle was firmly there in the back of his mind the whole time.
