Chase's POV:

I woke up to my alarm clock and shut it off. I sat up and yawned some. I got dressed with a few clothes I had. I never really did any laundry. I always stayed quiet and mute to everyone. I went upstairs and went out the front door. If you wondering why I went upstairs, I lived in the flipping basement for the past 14 years of my life. 3 years of it was with my brother, father, and mother speeding time together. But my mother died from getting shot at, and now I have a step mother, brother and sister. My own brother hated me for what I never do to my half brother and just kicked me into the flipping basement. I hated living in that basement for the past 14 years, which I didn't like. I grew up trying to sneak out, but always failed. Now that I know demons are about, I never knew why they lived in our world. I went to the mail box to get the mail that the rest of the family doesn't get.

"What are you doing outside this earlier?" a voice came. I looked to see one of the demon officers, one from the DPF: Demon Police Force. I looked at the officer and got the mail out of the mail box.

"J-just getting the mail sir," I said, trying my best to stay calm. "My family keeps forgetting to get it so I just grab it early in the morning so it won't be forgotten."

The demon officer nodded and smiled. "I'm glad SOMEONE is keeping track of their mail. What's your name? I think I've seen you before, but I'm not sure where."

I shifted my feet and rubbed my right arm, feeling nervous. "Ch-Chase, m-my name is Chase, sir. I lived here for the past 17 years with my family."

"You look like you got out of the dungeon. Why are your clothes like that?"

I looked at my clothes. Worn out jeans with a blown out knee on the right leg, wither shoes, a slightly slashed up shirt and a worn out jacket. "I-I just woke up and put this on sir. The past 14 years I've been living in the basement." I started to walk to the front door, but the officer followed me.

"Hey you ever been giving new clothes?" the demon asked.

"Only clothes my brother gives me, which are these." I sighed and looked at the demon officer. "I know you officers want to help everyone, but I have no idea what's going on in this world. I've been living like it's all normal to me, but I have no idea what's going on."

The demon officer sighed and grip my shoulder. "One day you have to know. If you don't get it out of your family when you leave for school, I'll tell you myself."

I knew I wouldn't be able to get anything out of dad, but nodded, knowing I'll try my best. I watched the demon officer, Maxzer his tag said, go back to his car and partner. I went inside and put the mail on the table, then made a pot of coffee before washing some of the dishes in the sink. My older blood brother, Jacer, maybe the oldest kid, but I'm more responsible in the family. I make sure dad gets his cup of coffee, my step-mother get something clean to make breakfast, Jacer to focus on the plants in the window, and my step brother and sister don't grip at me. I finished the dishes and sighed.

"Your up early," a gruff voice came.

I looked to see my dad, Fang, or as everyone in the neighborhood called him, Grex. "I'm up early everyday, Fang." I may have some respect for him, but he lost my trust when he first landed a hit on me, two years after my mom's death.

"You know you should call me Grex, mistake," Fang said, grabbing an empty cup.

"When have I ever said your real name when everyone in this house is fully awake?" I asked.

"......"

"......"

"........"

"Thought so," I said, making me some toast and pop-tarts. I knew I made a bad move, but can you blame me? My dad, Fang, and I were the only ones up this early.
