Broken Gears

Protologue

Hey there! This is my second book I'm writing, so don't expect it to be perfect. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Do you ever feel like something inside you is missing? Like there's a missing piece of a puzzle. You try everything you can to fill it, but it just feels empty. It feels like I should know what's missing, but no matter how hard I try to remember, my mind draws a blank. This "void," as I like to call it, has been within me since I was eight-years-old. I can still remember parts of that day, but never the whole picture. It was like a distant memory I could never fully grasp.

I can't remember what it looked like that day before the void hit, but the most I can remember from that day was delight, laughter, and happiness. Then fear, pain, screaming, and an emptiness that swallowed all of the previous feelings of joy. It was like there was a hole inside of me. My world went dark.

I remember waking up in a room that was an endless white room. In my hand, I felt a piece of paper. I opened it up and carefully read what it said. It said, "You are now banned from existence.". I was scared. I was wondering where here was and what happened.

I sat there and cried for what felt like hours. I don't know when or how I fell asleep. It was probably from exhaustion and dehydration. The next thing I knew, I woke up to see a man with a cloak that covered his face. I quivered in fear and tried to get away from the terrifying stranger. Suddenly the stranger spoke in a deep gravely voice " I'm not going to hurt you,". "Oh yeah, cause that makes me feel so safe," I thought.

The man stretched his hand out towards me and I flinched back. "What if he's lying and hurts me? I should run." I thought in a panic. Right as his hand touched my shoulder my world went black.

That's it for now. What do you guys think? Sorry that it's so short. I plan on making the chapters longer, especially as I go on and become better at writing. 

 ***I am working on the next chapter, but I'm really busy with school right now. I have no idea how frequently I'll actually be able to update. Also, I love it when you guys comment! Don't be afraid to comment unless you're going to cuss. I would appreciate it if you didn't cuss in the comments. I'm all open to constructive criticism though because I know my writing isn't perfect, but I want to improve.***
