-a court of thorns and roses-

When Feyre first come to the spring court, it's easy to see Lucien is her first friend.

My personal opinion is that the most realistic thing that could happen was that he would start getting feelings (which would have actually made the plot a little bit more interesting, as he knew she had to fall in love with Tamlin, but let's just stick to the facts):

- he hadn't lived with a female for decades;

- he jokingly flirts with her... seems to be just his personality, but we never actually see this aspect of him again, with no one else (remember after she kissed Tamlin, he asked for a kiss, too?);

- the way he protects her from Rhysand. We all know Rhys was not going to hurt her mate, but Tamlin and Lucien certainly did not. It's interesting to notice how Tamlin face Rhys, while Lucien protects Feyre... shouldn't it be the contrary? Also, he literally pushes her against a wall, to make sure she is safe, that Rhys would kill him before her. As I said before, Lucien loyalty is extremely strong, but here it looked to me... kind of a lot.

- he bows down to Rhys. Lucien has a strong sense of dignity and honor,  but in order to keep Feyre safe, he actually give it up;

- he says that Feyre is her lover to protect her from Rhys. Of course it was a lie, but it was a surprisingly fast response to Rhysand's "who's her?".... like really fast;

- as Feyre herself admits, Tamlin was jealous since the beginning about their relationship. Just think for a second: Tamlin had known Lucien for a really long time, so if someone could tell if he should have been jealous, it was him. Despite being protective in a toxic way, he never seems to be jealous of anybody else, not even of Rhysand;

- Amarantha threats his life to know her name, like they have a special bond... and even if they all look convinced that Feyre is going to fail the trials, he refuses to tell her name;

- the way he helps her, Under the Mountain. Way more than Tamlin himself. During the first trial, he risks his own life to save her. He later admits he came as soon as he was able to walk again. Even if he knows how much he's risking, he keeps coming back to her;

- it's important to remember how diligent he is, as Feyre herself says... helping her during the first trial could have two explanations: 1- it was not an impulse, he knew what he was risking but did it anyway, despite everything; 2- it actually was an impulse... but let's just remember he lets his emotions taking over only with Amarantha (when he loses his eye), not even when Elain is insulted in front of him;

- Again, Amarantha uses him during the second trial. Now that she knows her name, it can't be really hard to find someone she cares about... but again, she chooses Lucien. It's like she thinks they have a special bond;

- he comes back to the court of spring, with Tamlin and Feyre.

I hope all of this made sense to you. Let me know what you think :)
