" Mohammad what are you doing"
He places a necklace on my neck. Half whispering" remember your royalty you must always wear jewelry, this is currently the most expensive diamond set in al Kiam feel lucky"
I feel the diamonds with my fingers
" they are beautiful thank you"
"save your thanks for mother, she forced me to get them for you"
"what's wrong with you, you go from Mr nice to Mr grumpy very quickly"
"did you say something"
"no"
"then lets go"
We arrived at a park. I could see some of his relative on the other side , so we strolled across to meet them
"you see those ladies over there, your obese compared to them"
This guy is seriously out for me " mohammad its okay if you like bones"
" hala your nasty"
I just rolled my eyes. I mean those ladies over there are so skinny, I praise their confidence wearing jeans with those stick legs, if I were them I would wear dresses to hide that
Okay im being overdramatic because mohammad compared me to them. I am a feminist and body shaming is bad so I apologies
We exchange greetings for a while and getting to know each other. Most of his cousins were younger than him but all had atleast two kids. Plus I was feeling out of place, the men were throwing side glances at me. To top it off their wives were talking about pregnancies and kids which I cant relate with. So I wondered around for a while, the park had a fountain at its centre and the flowers created a rainbow fence, it was beautiful and peaceful
"salaam , you must be mohammads beautiful wife"
A man roughly of mohammads age spoke to me, he was tall and black hair he also wore coal on his eyes" salaam mr,"
" you know mohammad didn't even tell us he was getting married but after seeing I know why, he didn't want anyone to take you before he could"
I managed a smile, I was feeling uncomfortable when mohammad came over
" Hala have you met him, he is one of my oldest friends his name is faheem. He works in London"
Mohammad put his hands around me , pulling me a bit closer to him" and this is hala my wife"
I sense tension between them, are they really friends. Well the rest of the day was boring , the samosas were tasteless I mean I could make better with my eyes closed.
I walked over to mohammad" can we leave"
" yeah, lets go am getting tired. Lemme say bye you should do the same"
I nodded. I went back to the ladies, I gave them an excuse I was feeling sick and nauseas when suddenly one of theem started saying am pregnant
" no your getting it wrong I am just not use to outside food"
"its okay no need to be shy, we have all been there" amira said she is the wife of yusuf (one of mohammads cousin)
" lets congratulate mohammad" hiba said and she is faheems second wife
Oh my god what do I do. All of them rushed over to mohammad
"Mohammad congratulation, we heard the good news, its good to here you have finally moved on"
He looks confused" um thank you but I don't understand" he raises a brow at me but I cant do anything about it, the deed is done.
" oh pls mohammed , don't play that game with us , we know hala is pregnant"
Mohammad choked on his drink, he gives me such a hard stare its like he is trying to set me on fire, I look away nervously
" hala is pregnant, no she is not" mohammed argued
" what do you mean she is not pregnant when she is showing all the symptoms"
" did she tell you that"
"no but we can tell"
" well um" he rubs the back of his neck " we recently took a test in its negative"
He mouths the word your dead to me and I know am dead
"ohh sorry, but its good you guys are trying it will come soon" one of the women said to me and I gave her a weak smile
" well we will be on our then" mohammad said before half dragging me away. I had to jog to keep up or else I would fall.
On the way home, the silence was defeaning. I fixed my gaze to the window , the city of kiams is very quiet , there is no much crime because of the strict laws but calmness on the street is a contrast to the conflict in peoples houses.
" hala are you pregnant"
"yes, 7 months pregnant"
" you don't get to be sarcastic, your in trouble" he said sternly
"I didn't mean for it to happen, I was like am feeling a bit sick so we are leaving, it was just an excuse but they took it the wrong way"
" hala becareful what you say, your my wife, you're the wife of the crown prince anything you say will go wild, you know people have questioned why I didn't get married earlier, you can see all my cousins have kids some even say I wasn't able to bare kids and now this will only fuel those rumors, father would be mad"
"I am sorry."
"its fine"
Weeks had passed by and I feel like mohammad and I have understood each other more even though not a day passes by without us fighting.
