"Once upon a time...", with this sentence, starts every fairytale we know from our childhood, and that's how I wanted to start my life after marrying the man I love, but little did I know that what would follow after my wedding was far from what I was dreaming when I was little.

Selena
I was anxious. I just wore my white shorts and my tank top and looked at my reflection for the last time in the mirror. We traveled for many hours, but it was worth it. Today, I'm marrying the man of my dreams. Exactly. Today is my wedding! A sunny day on a dreamy beach in Miami. I don't need anything more.
My fiancée and I came from Greece to get married here in America, to be specific, in Miami. That's the plan. Just with a suitcase and our love.
I am Selena Pavlu, a 26-year-old Greek translator. I work in a translation agency in Greece. I speak and translate five languages, these are English, Italian, Russian, German, and Greek. I love to be independent. I'm an ordinary girl who dreams of living her fairy tale with the love of her life, growing old and all this stuff, and the marriage with Steve is my first step, I guess. Steve. Steve Passaris is my fiancé and from now on, he is officially my husband. Steve is also from Greece and works as a doctor in a public hospital there. He's passionate about his job and I want to believe that he's also passionate about me.
We were standing there on the beach now at sunset, and the priest had just finished the ceremony. With us was my bridesmaid and best friend, Hope. She came with us only to attend the wedding. She's my best friend, and she couldn't miss this. Unfortunately, life didn't go well for her, and that is why she is chasing fun. Hope is my best friend from college, where we studied foreign languages together to become translators. Due to issues of trust, I am her only friend. Also, she loves adventures, and, if not America, then where could she live for three days of adventures and fun? Yep, after our wedding, she will return home to Greece and we will stay for our honeymoon here in America.
Guests? No one. Only a few passers-by came and sat in some empty chairs to take pictures, and when I say they took pictures, I do not mean us but the sunset. I was not the classic bride with all the frou-frou. I was as simple as I could be. I was wearing white shorts, a white top with a white translucent cardigan, and white lace-up sandals. Of course, my hair couldn't be otherwise. If I'm proud of anything, it's my long blond healthy hair. During the ceremony, my hair fluttered because of the little air and began to stick from the salt in the atmosphere. Fortunately, I had sunbathed in Greece and the color of my skin made a striking contrast to the white I wore. Steve reminded me that it doesn't matter what you wear and how you are, but in marriage, it matters the person you marry. I didn't mind the fact of simplicity since he didn't wear a suit but white shorts and a light turquoise shirt.
We preferred to give our money for our honeymoon in America rather than on unnecessary things at our wedding. As soon as the priest and Hope left to bring us our papers to sign, Steve looked at me with a sly smile and told me: 'Our plan succeeded my love, you are officially my wife'.
After six years together, I couldn't believe that we just got married. I always knew he was the one. I met him as I visited a Russian-speaking patient at the hospital where he worked. To be precise, he called the office where I work now, and because I was the only one who translated this language, although as a new one at work, I was sent there. From the moment we first spoke, our eyes locked. He had beautiful honey eyes, brown curly hair, and I can say even though I am younger than him, he looked like a child. He was ashamed to talk to me openly, and it took almost two months for us to go out on our first date. Since then, we were inseparable, and what I admire most about him? He makes resident visits to people who don't have insurance and doesn't charge if he sees that they cannot afford his prices.
Steve came close to me and raised my head, looking me in the eyes, while saying: 'You can choose the first destination for our honeymoon my love. Wherever you go, I follow, remember?'. My answer came out almost with tears of joy: 'Well, Ι think, we can start from here Steve, this place is amazing. I love this beach. We must definitely celebrate it! This is the best day of my life!'. Steve couldn't contain his laughter because my behavior was more like that of a child than of a freshly married woman. He kissed me gently and told me: 'You are in a hurry, love. First, we will follow the custom, the first night of the wedding'. 'But it is still afternoon' I told him, half-laughing as I kissed him. 'Time doesn't matter in this Selena. I want my wife right now!'.
'Get your hands off her. You can both celebrate later, I want something to drink'. Hope came at the right time. I didn't want to go to the hotel, and I wasn't in the mood for this right now. So I winked at him and told him: 'We have an entire life for this, let's get to celebrate now!'
