"Tsukki!"

You yelled as the blonde guy named Tsukishima Kei was heading outside towards the gate you were standing by.

"Hey, Y/N-san!" Yamaguchi shouted while trailing behind Tsukishima.

"Same route?"

"Yeah."

Ever since your first year, you would always wait for them by the gate as they had volleyball every after dismissal. Then you would do your usual routine before heading home: eat, go shopping, walk home.

You were their childhood friend so it wasn't unusual for you to hang out with them, however in your first year in high school...

...you developed feelings for the blonde guy.

Yamaguchi was the first one to notice this, the first time he know was two months after you all entered Karasuno, where you would talk to Tsukishima more than to him.

And it pains him the most to see you act like this to Tsukishima but not to him.

You never showed it to anyone else, but the freckles guy always sees your eyes sparkle whenever you encounter him.

And he wished every night that it was him instead.

Because ever since he met you, he never steered away his eyes from you.

Yet he knows that love he felt will never be returned.

One time, Tsukishima told him that he won't be joining them back home. So he took this opportunity to talk to you alone.

"Y/N-san... do you mind if we talk for a bit?"

"Sure! What's on your mind?"

You.

He couldn't bring to say that it was you who was preoccupying his mind everyday. He couldn't tell you how much you meant to him, because in your eyes, he'll forever be the shy, dependent, freckles-guy.

"I-I kept on noticing this every time we go home... I just couldn't bring myself to say it..."

You pat his head. It's clear that it sent him shivers.

"Go on, say it." You say with a reassuring smile.

"D-Do you love Tsukki..?"

"Wha—"

He could tell already that he lost, just by seeing your blushing face. You were stuttering to find the words to say him, but you couldn't lie to him—you trust him so much.

"Y-Yes..."

"Why...?"

Why? You couldn't bring yourself to tell why. You fell in love with him because of his wits and personality.

"I'm right here, so why him?"

You were at a lost for words. You never knew he had feelings for you because you thought he was just being himself whenever he talks to you.

"What do you mean...?"

"You knew for yourself that whatever you did he could never love you back... so why hi—"

"You'll never know until you try!"

You lashed out. You didn't mean it, but you just couldn't help but do it.

"I know that and it pains me everyday, but I'll do whatever it takes to be with him!"

You ran away. Yamaguchi lowered his head and cried.

"I'm right here... stay with me..."

That night, you slumped down the couch as you opened the TV. Your mind was bugged with what happened earlier.

"Just recently, there had been a car crash near ******. There was one casualty, the man was a highschooler from Karasuno—"

You felt shivers run down your spine.

You rushed down to the place, and to your horror, you knew the person who just died from the crash.

It was Yamaguchi.

You couldn't look at his body being carried to the ambulance, so you ran away to somewhere private.

As soon as you got there, you fell down to your knees as you sobbed remembering every moment you spent with him. To him crying and you hugging him, to every pretend dates you had and every time you two were alone together.

Then realization hit you hard.

"I... love Tadashi..."

It had been too late. You never had the chance to tell him. If only you realized it sooner, this would've never happened.

Then you felt something cold pat your head. You cried even harder.

"Tadashi..."

"I'm here..." Although he knew you couldn't hear him, he wanted to let you know that he was there. So he wrapped his arms around you.

"Don't cry... it makes me want to cry too..."

You cried and cried as he tightly hugged you, all while brushing your hair.

"I wish you and Tsukki happiness... you deserve each other..."

Yamaguchi could feel himself fade away.

"I love you, Y/N... forever and ever..."
