So I took an old school project, I shared it before but I feel like not enough people saw it, cause at the time, I was really proud of this piece...
So without further delays, I present to you, a small prequel to Up in Flames,
Willam looks around, staring at every little thing. The river had a dull gray color, the same as ever day he came. He sighs as he picks up another river stone, clutching it in his hand. Will looks around, the birds flutter a bit, the fish don’t come out, the stones shimmer in the water. He takes a deep breath in, hoping that he could stay in this peaceful place. But, Will knew he couldn’t, he knew he had to talk to people again. Gripping the stone tightly he sits up and walks back home. The trail he takes is his own, the same path every time. He sighs as he approaches the brick house. He gingerly walks to the back gate, the front door is probably locked. He opens the gate and steps in, walking right over to a tree. He gives the tree a quick blank stare then he says, “Bill, can you please get up”. He hears a small groan, then a disgruntled reply, “no, never, let me sleep forever.”. Will rolls his eyes and kicks the tree. The tree shakes and a yellow lump falls to the ground. Will walks over to the lump, or otherwise known as his brother. “Ready to get up now”, Will tests, “FINE” his brother replies. Bill brushes himself off and gets up, they both walk into the house. Will heading straight for the chore list, he reads it off, “you have to dust, and I have to make dinner today”. Bill nods, “I did it before I took a nap”. Will shrugs and starts making dinner, most likely pasta. He heated the water and went to grab the noodles out of the pantry. Bill sits on the couch ostentatiously. Will rolls his eyes as the water begins to boil.
Bill stands up from his chair, grabbing his plate and taking it to the sink. Will lets his eyes follow their brother. “Bill, I can do the dishes” Will says as he puts his plate in the sink, “no, I’ve got it”. Will nods and heads to his room. Along the way he checks his pockets, the river stone lies in one. He opens a door, walking in. The room has a large double bed in the center, the sheets are made in a delicate way. Will sits on the bed, looking at the pictures on the wall. Two pictures, a tall woman in one and in the other an equally tall man. “ Hi mom, I brought you another stone” Will whispers, he gets up and walks to the dresser. He pulls out a jar and sets the stone inside, then he sits back on the bed. “Bill still sets up in that tree, I guess I should be happy. He didn’t cut his leg once he fell today” Will whispers, a feeling of forlorn settles on him. A single tear falls down his face, quickly followed by more. Will sets up, “I’ll take my leave now thank you” he states as he exits the room. He closes the door to find an inarticulate Bill. Will stood there appalled, tears still streaming down his face. “W-were y-you listening to me” Will stutters, Bill nods and lets his head hang down. Will let’s more tears flow, “I’m so sorry Will, I shouldn’t have listened” Bill cries out. Will cracks a weak smile, “I should've done all the chores, instead of lying around, let you have time to yourself” Bill says. “I should've been a better brother all these years” he finishes, leaving both crying. “Bill, you’ve done nothing wrong. Never in your life have you been a bad brother. We just have to see how the world plays out by itself, be a fatalist sometimes” Will speaks in a gentle voice. Bill staggers forward, then wraps his brother in a hug. Bill sniffles as his feeling of remorse leaves. Bill releases his brother from the hug and walks to his room.
Years later a man comes walking down Will’s stream. Or at least that’s what the man called it. The man walked with great animation and zeal. The stranger has a black hooded cab on, the neck decorated with gold triangles. The stranger stops at a large stone, taking off his hood. His hair is a bright blonde with a black hunter cut, shiny horns stick off the top of his head. “Hi a Will! It’s been awhile, I hope you still remember me” the man speaks. “I wish you were still here, thousands of years later, with me” the stranger stagers out. He leans down and picks up a shiny river stone, then pulls a jar out of his pocket. “I’m gonna leave these like you left them for mother” he says as he drops the stone in the jar. He places the jar at the foot of the stone, the stone has writing on it, William. The stranger looks at the writing then places his hand on the stone, “goodbye for now brother” Bill speaks softly. He dusts himself off and walks away, knowing he’ll visit again soon
