Just like years go by

Life moves on

And just like a tree grows

People grow

But Mitsuba wasn't a person

Mitsuba was a ghost

It was obvious that one day he would get older, Mitsuba knew that but there was nothing he could do to help prepare him for the day that it would happen. The day Kou would finally grow up and leave him...

As years passed Kou seemed to mature. He began to get taller, his voice got a bit deeper, he was older.

Meanwhile, Mitsuba stayed the same age he was when he died. He still looked like he was fourteen, the same young face and high pitched voice not growing an inch. And Kou was now in his last year of school before he was to set off and move on with his life.

His last year where he would be able to see Mitsuba every day...

Kou couldn't stay at Kamome forever he had to leave eventually. He was getting closer to the day where he would say goodbye to the halls of Kamome. And to the day where he would have to say goodbye to Mitsuba.

Mitsuba feared that once Kou left he would never see him again. And although he didn't want to admit it, it was tearing him apart.

He would constantly think about how alone he would be without Kou around him. 'Why would he come and visit anyways?' He asked himself at times thinking that there would be no use for it and that once Kou left the

pink-haired ghost would just be a thing of the past, quickly forgotten.

'Just a couple more months and then he leaves'

'I'll be alone again'

'He's gonna leave and never come back'

'I'll be forgotten'

"Good morning Mitsuba." Kou said as he greeted the ghost with the same kind smile he always had on his face.

Mitsuba had been interrupted mid-thought by the blonde. Suddenly his negative thoughts of what was to come were immediately silenced.

Something about Kou made Mitsuba happy, he couldn't explain it well, all he knew was that he just felt better when around him.

But just cause Kou made him feel better doesn't mean the thoughts disappeared

Ever since they met up that morning Kou could tell Mitsuba was bothered by something he just couldn't put his finger on it. 'He seems off today' he thought as he observed Mitsuba for a while longer.

Mitsuba caught on to this and began to feel a little uncomfortable. "What?" He asked hoping to catch Kou's attention which he did.

Kou looked at his friend in the eye. Those lovely light blue eyes Mitsuba adored so much stared into his pink eyes. They both stayed staring at one another before Kou broke the silence.

"Oh I was just thinking," he said. "About what?" Mitsuba asked curious to know what had the blonde go so deep into thought.

Kou shrugged before replying, "I was just thinking about you. Your acting strange today, is everything ok?" He asked, his face showing concern for his friend.

Mitsuba shouldn't have been surprised by Kous observation. The two had been around each other for so long it had become easy for both to pick up on even the smallest changes in one another. But he was a little shocked that Kou picked up on his slight change in behavior so quickly.
