Chapter 4
As I begin to wake from my blissful slumber, I let my vessels tender limbs stretch. The poor, virgin teenage girl is still fighting inside of her own body, trying to overcome me. She obviously hasn't stood a chance ever since I came, yet she keeps fighting. I do admire that about her. She was the perfect fit for me.
I let my eyes stay closed, soaking up the peaceful silence for a few seconds longer. I hadn't had this kind of stillness in years. It was oddly comforting. I can see why humans have such a hard time getting out of bed so early.
Just as I'm about to force myself to rise, I hear it. Not something any normal human can hear, but my senses make it sound louder than ever. A slight intake of breath to my left, by the window.
My body reacts before my mind does, my eyes flashing open in a flare of murky white and my legs flying so I'm immediately in a crouched position, facing whoever had dared cross into my territory. And there stands the one man that could strike fear into my heart.
----------------------------------
Oh my. No, it can't be. It couldn't possibly be him. He was gone, vanished, thousands of years ago. He couldn't be here, in front of me. It just wasn't possible.
My stare pierces him in utter horror, as he silently adjusts his dark business suit and leans against the window sill. He lays down his steel tipped cane and clears his throat, a scratchy and dry sound. When he looks up and meets my eyes with his overly enlarged pupils, I feel my breath catch in my throat and my body freeze. I'm not supposed to be afraid of anyone. I'm the mother of all, everyone else is afraid of me. But this is like looking my biggest fear straight in the eyes. He sends tingles of cold down my spine, as if he's running his own fingertips down it. I was frozen, unable to move or think clearly.
"Eve" He croaks, staring at me as though I'm only a tool in his mind. A weapon to use when needed. Because he has the power here. I blink, slowly bringing myself back to reality.
"Death."
