It's been two months since Spencer has made the decision to adopt Benjamin. As far as he's concerned, it's been the best two months of his life. The eleven year old had quickly become Spencer's greatest pride. The young genius always talking about him to his peers, sharing every school accomplishment he's ever made. While Spencer was away working a case, he hired a nanny to look after Benjamin. Although, he could be a little tricky with her sometimes.
Now it was around 2 am, and Spencer had just walked into his apartment after being away for a week due to a case. He hated being gone for so long, he would miss Benjamin deeply. The moment Spencer hung up his jacket, he was greeted by the sound of small footsteps headed his way. The eleven year old running towards Spencer, as he wrapped his arms around him.
"Daddy!" Benjamin exclaimed, his grip tightening a bit on Spencer. He was always worried for Spencer if he was on a case that lasted a bit longer than usual.
Spencer smiled softly, he wasn't exactly happy that Benjamin was up this late but he would let it slide. " I'm happy to see you too, Buddy." Crouching down to Ben's height as he played with his hair. " Where's Nanny Elena?"
Benjamin turned, pointing to the couch as the nanny, Elena was snoring.
" I tricked her into thinking I was asleep, once she fell asleep I just waited for you to come home!" Benjamin was honest with Spencer, the majority of the time.
Spencer sighed, before standing back up and walking over to the Nanny. Once waking her up and making sure she had all her things, he escorted her to the front door. Both Spencer and Benjamin saying their goodbyes as she left.
Once she closed the door, Spencer turned his attention back to Ben. Picking him up as he walked into his bedroom, the man looked up noticing some new decoration he added to his ceiling. Golden Stars.
"What are these?" He questioned, as Spencer laid him down in the bed and tucked him in.
Ben just smiled and pointed at them " They're stars like the ones in the sky, Nanny Elena got them for me! They light up at night."
Spencer just chuckled to himself, as he walked over to the light switch, flicking it off and sure enough the stars on the ceiling began to glow. " That is very cool."
" Do you want some?" Ben questioned, wondering if Spencer wanted Starts for his bedroom as well.
Walking back to the boy, Spencer leaned down and kissed him on the forehead. " No thanks, I have my own already. Goodnight, Benjamin."
He smiled and nodded "Night, Daddy. I Love you!"
Spencer's eyes teared up a little bit in that moment, that was the first time Benjamin had told Spencer he loved him. Clearing his throat abit, he ran his hand down Benjamin's hair. " I love you more, Buddy."
It only took a couple of minutes before Benjamin was fast asleep, Spencer making sure he was quiet as he walked out of the room. Turning around once more to look at Benjamin before looking back up at the stars on the ceiling. They did shine bright, but Benjamin shined brighter. Thinking back to Ben's question. Spencer didn't need any golden stars, he already had one. Benjamin was his golden star and he shined brighter than ever.
