The Wall

They stood at the wall and stared across,
Reaching out with their hearts at a loss,
There was no one around and their meeting was wrong,
The wall was thick, and yes, it was long,
They tried to be careful to avoid being caught,
Then all their emotions would be for naught.

"It's time for us to go, it's getting late,
It's a pity we cannot date,
But circumstances have decreed our fate,
We'll live like this forever, we'll always stay in this state,

"Yes," she replied, "though that's true,
I'll always feel the same way for you,
Though boyfriends may come and go,
And one day my husband will show,
You will always be in my heart instead,
And my love for you will stay till my deathbed,"

The wall grew dark and they did not know,
if the moon would shine and their love would show,
A thread had joined them both by the heart,
It was bloody cupid with his stupid dart,

They stood on opposite sides of the wall,
One was big and one was small,
Both were waiting for the darkness to go,
Both were waiting for true love to show.

Cupid was bloody good at this,
But Cupids aim was sorely amiss.
