She gasped for air, after I had stopped water-boarding her.
‘Will you do that again?’,I asked.
‘No. I won’t, I promise’,she said a weak whisper.
‘Aight’, I said sitting back in my chair and dropping the gallon at the side of the chair.
‘Hmm’, I said looking at her.
‘Do you hate me?’, I asked her. ‘You can reply in your regular voice’, I added. She was quiet for a long time. In fact she never spoke.
‘Please answer me honestly’, I asked with my arms folded and body laid back.
She opened her mouth, choking on words, she lowered her head. ‘Okay then, say anything you want to say. Anything at all’.
‘I… wish I hadn’t … I wish I never met you’,Rebel said nasally with red eyes looking at me intently for my reaction.
‘If I let you go,…what will you do to me?’.
Her eyes wondered my face, she looked at the table, the pile of microphone packaging and torture devices. ‘I’ll kill you’, she said. ‘It will be better if you kill me now because if I escape…’,she said energy sipping back into her.
I nodded. As I looked up at the light for a few seconds and looked back at her. My vision was dark until it finally cleared and I stared at her.‘I have a gun, I said, if you don’t agree with what I’m about to suggest I’ll have to use it. Her eyes darted to the table, searching for the gun. ‘It’s more of a tranquilliser gun than a bullet gun’, I conveyed.
‘Why are you doing this to me, we could come to an arrangement’, Rebel pleaded.
‘I think we both know why, and this is the arrangement’, I said pointing at the place.
‘I want to let you go but before letting you go, you must promise not to reveal any of this to anyone. I’d make out with you, even have sex with you because I can and want to but… I don’t know. I said with a shake of my head, I feel like I should stop this…and… , I said standing up and beginning to dismount the microphones and placing them in their packaging. The room was silent, with only the sound of my movements breaking it in intervals. I was soon done packing the mics. I also packed up the torture devices and placed them in the black briefcase I brought along. After I had finished. I went over to my laptop and also packed that into its case. All the things I had brought were now on the table, and packed excluding the gamer chair. I held in my hand a penknife. She was looking at me,studying me, wondering if I was just packing so that after I kill her, I’d just carry my shit and leave. ‘I want to ask the same question I asked earlier. If I let you go,what will you do to me?’.Time elapsed, I went over and took the earpiece from her wet ears. ‘I will…forgive you’. I closed my eyes, opened them and looked back at her. I sent my hands through my hair and walked away from Rebel. Outside, the rain had began to fall. ‘I’m genuinely sorry I did this to you’, I said. ‘If you want to go, I’d let you go’.
I shook my head as I walked back to her, with the knife in hand, I stabbed at…
