The blades of the helicopter sliced through the thin clouds of the night. There was in fact three Helicopters, all painted a Jet black allowing them to blend in better with the night sky. Inside each helicopter were rows of seats, men in black armor sat in each one, bones painted on some parts of their armor. Most wore gas masks, except for the five men in the first helicopter. Each squad was separated by an "0-number" across their shoulder pads. Of course 01 got their own special chopper.
Captain Allen stood up, he opened a side panel on his helicopter and looked out feeling the cold night breeze wash over him. "You'll fall off the Helicopter, god damnit!" Said Sergeant Matthews who stood behind him. "You worry too much Matthews, cmon we're almost at the drop zone, hell maybe we will even die there. Relax a bit, eh?" Allen said, still looking out over the side of the helicopter. This was Squad 01, Ghost Company the recon team of Alpha-15, they were always the first to enter whatever the hell they were sent to explore. The other squads usually didn't follow for a few hours unless the threat was severe. The squad consisted of five members, Captain Allen, Sergeant Matthews Allen's second in command, Corporal Dunn and Privates Gregor and Alec. The pilot of the chopper called from his seat, "Buckle up Ghosts, we are approaching the drop zone now." Allen and Mathews sat down with the other three. Both Gregor and Alec were tense, of course they all had their faces hidden but Allen could still tell by their body expressions. They were new to Ghost squadron, the two previous privates were wiped out leaving only Dunn, who was promoted. That was the first time Ghost had experienced any casualties, the creature in question was SCP-049, but that's for another story. The helicopter flew over the small town, it was darkened but they could still make out the shapes of houses and buildings, it was your typical small town, around five-six thousand people had lived their before some kind of entity appeared and started causing havoc. The helicopter now hovered over the drop zone lowering more and more. They eventually landed, the drop zone being on the roof of a fast food joint known as "Taco Bell" which apparently was safer than landing entirely on the ground. The five men jumped out, Allen first, then Matthews then Dunn and the privates. Allen spoke, "Alright boys, make sure you have your night vision on at all times, if you need new batteries ask Dunn." The team nodded and flipped down their goggles climbing down the side of the rusted fast food restaurant. They walked in a single file line, rifles lowered except for the Captain. The town looked like something out of a doomsday film, the buildings were charred and destroyed and rusted cars laid all down the streets. Dunn was the first to speak after well over forty minutes of silent walking. "Contact! Twelve O' clock!" The rest of the team turned quickly, in the distance a figure stood entirely still down the road about two hundred meters away. It just watched them intently. Gregor spoke next, "Sir what the hell is that?." "I don't know, but approach it slowly! Flanking position!." The team turned into a half circle shape, they're rifles raised they stepped towards the entity getting closer and closer with each step.
