"good morning!" kenma glared at the overly cheerful girl, mumbling a sluggish greeting back before his eyes returned back to his gaming device, wondering how she was so full of energy so early in the morning. the aforementioned girl blinked, turning to her best friend who joined the pair.

"don't mind kenma, the new first year has been getting on his nerves during practice." the bed headed boy explained. "how are you on this lovely morning, riri?" akaari hummed, the sound of her nickname tearing her attention away from the pudding haired boy who continued to ignore her presence. she narrowed her eyes at the rooster head, knowing that he only ever spoke so nicely to her was when he wanted something.

"no." she answered flatly, following after kenma before kuroo even had a chance to ask what he wished to ask.

"hey, wait―!" he called out, his long legs easily catching up to the girl. "you don't even know what i was going to ask." he whined, his lips in a pout as akaari rolled her eyes. the three of them were walking towards hers and kenma's class, kuroo always walking with them to their class first before he'd head off to his own.

"i don't need to know." she shrugged, more interested in the game kenma was playing than what kuroo had to say. however, they all knew akaari was doing it to annoy kuroo, remembering how the girl had once vowed that she'd never play video games ever again after binge playing overwatch when it had come out during their last year of middle school and almost being held back a year ― her bank account had taken a loss that year too.

"pleeeaaase!" he suddenly pleaded, dragging out the vowels as akaari was taken aback by the sudden increase of volume in his voice. with flushed cheeks, the girl glanced around, noticing that he had successfully attracted the attention of surrounding students, embarrassing her even further. she turned her glare to the older boy, knowing that she had no choice but to agree, especially since this was only the beginning of what kuroo was capable of.

"what is it?" she questioned, exasperatedly. kuroo grinned, smug that his plan had worked easier than expected. he wrapped his arm around the shorter girl's shoulders, bending over slightly so he was eye level with her since he was basically double her height. the girl frowned, turning her head to face kuroo's which was right next to her's, flustering the boy for a second as he didn't think she'd look at him so suddenly.

"e-english." he stuttered out, realising that he was just staring at her like an idiot. "help me." he meekly added, unable to form a proper sentence. this caught kenma's attention as he turned his head slightly to look over at his two best friends, only to find kuroo completely hypnotised by akaari's gaze. kenma sighed, knowing that the older boy was far from needing help in any subject with his excelling grades that were always boasted about during their practices.

"english?" akaari questioned, oblivious to those said grades as she hummed in thought. "what do i get in return?" she smirked, knowing that there was no way she'd give away her perfectly written notes to just anyone without getting something in return. akaari was a hardworking student and number one in her whole year, and someone who could easily beat the third year's number one student. she's always had a perfect score, is a teacher's pet and in all the advanced classes, so she didn't doubt the fact that she would be able to help the third year before her. kuroo sighed, knowing that it would be no easy feat to convince akaari with no strings attached.

"how about i take you out for food, we can go to that expensive place you like?" he suggested. akaari, despite loving that restaurant with her whole heart and wishing she could dine their everyday if she wasn't so broke, declined his offer.

"pass," she waved the idea away, knowing that kuroo suggested it, but still couldn't help feeling bad knowing that damage it can do to his wallet. "how about you give me the number of that cute setter from fukurodani and then i'll consider it?" she grinned as they came to a halt in front of the classroom. kenma's interest was piqued once again as he looked over at kuroo, wondering how the sly captain would deal with the situation.

"deal." he agreed, the two shaking on it to seal the deal. kenma stared at his childhood friend in disbelief, knowing that with kuroo's huge crush on the girl he was currently staring at, he was about to make the biggest mistake of his life. akaari grinned, entering the classroom first as kenma hung back, his eyes narrowing at the bed headed boy who stared lovingly after the girl.

"what do you think you're doing?" kuroo snapped out of his daze, glancing down to realise kenma was still rooted in his place. the older boy had expected him to enter first without them even realising so he was surprised to see kenma still there. "you know akaari's had the biggest crush on keiji-san since they first met, so why would you throw your crush into the hands of your enemy like that?" he questioned, speaking as if they were game characters. kuroo smirked, patting his friend's shoulder assuringly.

"let's not forget what kind of person akaashi keiji is."
