Chapter 3
How could he have known? No one had EVER seen me before. I was like a ghost; about as visible as air. Yet, I could feel Jason's eyes boring holes into my back during lunch. I knew I shouldn't have pried; now I had finally been caught. I was panicking to the max; on the inside of course. He was standing a few people behind me and I was praying my heart out that he wouldn't come over and question me; I decided to avoid him for the rest of the day (although forever was starting to sound like a wonderful plan A). I quickly grabbed a Capri Sun, and a chicken burger and made my way towards Cassie and Sam at the far end of the cafeteria.
"Hey!" I turned to my left to see a pretty blonde talking to me.
"Erm..hello" I said, not sure she was talking to me.
"You're the new girl right?" she asked. Yep, she was talking to me. "I'm Summer!" She smiled at me. "This is Kelsi, Alicia, and Jen" These had to be the girls Cassie was ranting about earlier. Yup, the brunette Summer pointed out as Alicia definitely had a boob job- although it made no sense since she was absolutely stunning (of course). This gorgeous streak thing I had been encountering was making me want to bang my head against a wall.
"Yah, that's me, I'm Clara." I gave a small smile, not wanting to be rude, but wanting to join my friends, and continue hiding from Jason.
"Well Clara, you should sit down with us!" I wasn't planning on sitting there but for someone who wasn't supposed to be nice, she seemed to be. "It's just the four of us since everyone else pisses me off, but you don't give me that vibe. You're pretty and have a stunning outfit, so who knows; maybe you could become one of us." She winked. Now I was starting to get a feel for who she was, and as much as I would love to be in one of those comedy-cliché movies, I just wasn't ready to be the Cady Heron in this Mean Girls scenario.
"Um, I have to take a rain check, I'm already sitting with some friends, thank you so much though!" I turned around after she nodded with a tight smile and sat down with Sam and Cassie releasing a sigh of relief.
"What's the matter Clara dearest? Already encountered the Wicked Witch of Lawrence Creek High School I see." Cassie looked up from her salad.
"It wasn't so bad but Alicia's boob job was making me antsy." I responded, stuffing my burger into my mouth.
"THANK YOU! They're like balloons waiting to be popped. I swear that girl has enough boobage to take out an army;they're practically nuclear weapons!" Cassie raised her hands in the air.
"Okay, ladies as much as I enjoy you're gossiping I think Clara has a much bigger problem than Summer making herself known." Cassie and I both turned to follow Sam's gaze when my eyes widened to whom he was referring to. Sitting on the opposite side of the Cafeteria, by himself, was Jason, and his gaze on me hadn't let up one bit. I was starting to think his eyes would fall out for glaring so hard at me.
"That's got to be the creepiest thing ever. Did you say something to him Clara?" Cassie inquired.
"No, he ran into me this morning, and told me to watch where I was going." And you know...I was in his dreams and he caught me. I grabbed my juice and stuck the straw in my mouth looking down at my tray.
I could feel Sam staring at me with open concern.
"Clara, are you sure there isn't anything going on?"
Nope. "Yes, Sam. I have no clue why he is burning holes in my back." Lies. I'm awful.
"Maybe he just wants to borrow your outfit." Cassie winks at me.
"Well, in that case, you might want to warn him that bite sized clothing isn't going to fit him very well." Sam jokes.
"I am not THAT short! " I argued, glaring at him. I like to think that my brown eyes are pretty much flame throwers.
"Whatever you say Bite Size."
I squirted my juice at him.

All playfulness from lunch aside, I hadn't seen Jason since lunch and I was feeling extremely relieved. That meant he did not have History, Gym, or Study Hall with me; well , unless he ditched.
"See you after school, enjoy picture taking!" Cassie smiled.
"Yah and don't get eaten by a lion, or worse, Mrs. Shrokes." Sam on the other hand was a piece of work.
I laughed as I walked away while Cassie and Sam argued about me being eaten by a lion.
I was so so so excited for this class. I absolutely adore everything about photography. It's my hobby, and since my father passed away, I just had to take pictures to remember even the smallest of moments, because you never know how important those really are until you lose them. For Christmas last year, my parents got me this really fancy camera, and since then I've pretty much been acting as if I've gone pro.
As I'm sitting in my seat, the bell rings, and my last classmate walks in.
Jason.
