Prologue

All my life, I've had everything planned out for me. It was never up to me. I had no control. It was like that for 16 years. Until I met him. He was wild and free. Did his own thing and didn't care what anyone thought. Everything I wanted to be. And he drew me in, like a spider bringing in its next victim. His world was breath taking and I wanted every part of it. And he gave it to me. Invited me in. If only I'd known what was in store for me. If only I’d known how much the darkness would consume me. I wonder if I would have changed anything.

I knew my parents would disapprove with every fiber in their being the moment I laid eyes on him. But for once in my life, I didn’t care. For once in my life I wanted nothing more than to disobey them. Because I wanted him. And I wanted everything he stood for.

I laughed as I stood up on the bench in the courtyard and jumped onto Emily’s back and gripped my legs and arms tightly around her. We were screaming and laughing and she was about to take off running when suddenly someone jumps onto my back screaming “Double piggy back ride!”

Emily stumbled and we fell giggling, I landed on my back and the person who’d jumped on me landed on top of me. I was about to shove them off and get up when I locked eyes with my assailant. He had deep blue eyes with a tint of green. He had long thick eyelashes that framed those beautiful eyes, I had a flash of envy that my eyelashes couldn’t be like that. He had sandy blond hair that curled right above his eyes, I wanted to reach out and run my hands threw it. His eyes crinkled like he was smiling, but I didn’t look to see if he was. His eyes had all of my attention. Slowly he winked at me and started to get up. I still hadn’t moved and now he was standing over me.

“Need some help there, love?” He had a slight british accent, and if I wasn’t already on the floor I’m sure I would have swooned. I was about to reach out and take his hand when he smirked, so sure of himself. I was not some damsel in distress.

“I can manage on my own, I am perfectly fine no thanks to you.” I was shocked at the words that came out of my mouth as I was getting up. This wasn’t like me. I wasn’t a shy nervous girl, but I also wasn’t so brazen. It was too late to take my words back, but as I was about to apologize I noticed that he looked amused. Not offended but amused and a little bit abashed. So I kept my mouth shut and looked him over instead. He wore slightly baggy skinny jeans tucked into black combat boots, a blue v neck and a leather jacket. Your typical bad boy. He also had his lip pierced, he wore a lip ring. Which only made him all the more attractive. His lips were moving, which means that he was speaking. Crap I quickly snapped out of my daze to catch on to what he was saying.

“Ah, sorry about that love, I’m quite an impulsive person. It was just a bit of fun.” He gave me a sheepish smile, and I noticed he had a dimple. As if he wasn’t already perfect, he now had a dimple.

“Fun for you or for me?” Where the hell was this coming from. This wasn’t me at all. Especially with someone I’d just met. Then again he did make me fall on the floor.

“Well that depends on who you’re asking love.” His voice was low and melodic. “I can’t say that landing on top of pretty girl like you wasn’t the least bit of fun.” He smirked as I blushed at his words. I was flustered and at a loss for words and he knew that as he laughed softly. “I’ll see you around lovely.” He winked as he turned and sauntered away. And I stood there staring after him, flustered, speechless, and just a bit mesmerized.
