Once Isobel was asleep Chris decided to have a conversation with Gianna about what the officer had said. They were in the kitchen as Mark looked at Gianna.
"What was that guy talking about? Jared possibly committing a murder. Let alone two murders."
"I have no idea what he was talking about. Jared isn't that type of guy." She knew that because Jared barely helped in the act of committing the murders of Jorge Diaz and Lorenzo Forte. It was mostly all Gianna but no one knew that.
"I knew he was bad news, Gi. He's been around Izzy." he told her.
"He also has two boys, Mark."
"Two boys or not, he is bad news. I can't believe you trust him after what we just heard."
"I trust him because he's my friend." she sighed, "It's getting late. We need to go to bed."
"This conversation isn't over at all."
                     . . .
As the next morning approached, the current week became the next week. Gianna heard no words from Jared and she was growing worried, but she knew the boys were doing okay. Jared wasn't showing up to work either and that also worried Gianna as well.
Jared walked into the police station and went straight to the front desk. "I've committed a crime and I will be turning myself in," he told the officer at the front desk.
"Sir, turning yourself in for a crime is a very serious matter and I hope you know what you're doing. I hope you know what you're to your family as well if you have a family."
"I know what I'm doing and that is why I am here dammit. Just put me in handcuffs already. Just do it, I am such a horrible person." he pleaded to make everything more believable.
"If you absolutely know what you're getting yourself into, then let's get to it." Jared was taken into an interrogation room where he was to be sitting until an officer or detective would come to interrogate him. Jared sat there for what felt like forever until a detective, the same detective that talked to Gianna, had come into the interrogation room.
"Just the man I had been looking for. You finally decided to turn yourself in and now we can stop this search for the suspect." He replied with a  smirk. "Now tell me, just how you decided to kill Jorge Diaz and Lorenzo Forte. I have already talked to your very close friend, Gianna. I just want to make sure that you have only committed these murders and you're not considered a suspect in the other string of murders that has been happening. But maybe it was you. I guess we'll find out, huh?"
"Look, I only came here to confess to the murders of Jorge and Lorenzo. You can leave Gianna out of your mouth." Jared was starting to get defensive around Detective Taylor when Gianna's name was brought up.
"Woah there, Mr. Thompson. I think you need to calm down. We don't want any more charges to be brought now, do we?" He snickered and sat down across from him. "What made you commit those murders? Was it the thrill of every stab or gunshot? There had to have been something to make you want to commit those murders."
"I can keep my mouth shut for as long as I want. I may have come in willingly, but I still have the choice of whether or not to say anything further. I already told you that I committed the murders. Then you made the comment eluding to the fact that you were already searching for me. So you have all the facts detective — isn't that right?"
"Since you won't talk, you will be brought to court for your arraignment, where your charges will be discussed and then the possibility for the bond will be decided if you are granted bond, that is."
Detective Taylor walked out of the interrogation room and another officer took Jared to booking, and he was processed then placed into a holding cell for the time being.
. . .
It wasn't long the following day until Jared was brought in front of the judge for his arraignment hearing to see what the judge could be deciding in regards to his case and the charges that were being put against him. This would also include deciding if he would be able to be granted bail or not. He sat with his lawyer and waited for the hearing to proceed.
"All rise." Judge Williams stated as he entered the courtroom.
Jared and his attorney both stood up and waited for the judge to speak on his behalf.
"Mr. Thompson, you do realize the charges being brought on you are very serious in the matter of first-degree."
"Yes, your honor."
"How does the defendant plea?"
"Guilty on two counts of 1st-degree murder, your honor." He paused. "The defendant also wishes to be granted bail as there is no threat to his life and is not a flight risk. There is also no further evidence to prove he is the one committing the other string of murders that have happened in the area."
"Based on circumstantial evidence, and the fact that it is not proven that the defendant is not tied to the other string murders, the defendant is granted bail that is only temporary and the balance is paid in full at $1 million."
Jared sighed in relief, but he knew it was going to get risky if there was evidence that could tie him to the other murders. He was also willing to risk everything for Gianna since he knew his two sons would be in excellent care.
