KALI Z. RICHARDS

"Ladies! Run it again, let's go!" Coach Miranda said making me sigh. We had done this about thirty times already. I made my way back into my position putting my hands at my sides as we started the cheer over.

I watched Coach Miranda's face for approval but she seemed to not like it, making me have a little breakdown causing me to bump into the person next to me.

"Oh my God Richards! Again?" She slapped her forehead.

"Well maybe she's tired! We've done the same cheer for two hours!" My sister Raven said, making all the girls agree, and coach roll her eyes.

"Fine! Practice is over, but you're at the center no later than three tomorrow." She said making me roll my eyes walking to the locker room.

"She's going to make us do this stupid cheer until our legs fall off." Samara said rolling her eyes. I just shook my head.

"Try living with her." I spoke, making Raven agree. We all hurried and put our things on. I was sweating like crazy, and I definitely couldn't wait to get home.

I walked out of the locker room going next to Raven and the couch also known as my aunt.

"Is Shawn out of practice?" I asked her and she nodded her head.

"He's in the locker room getting ready." She spoke making me nod and wait on him to walk out.

"Let's do a TikTok dance." Raven suggested making me nod as I got on my phone to look for one.

"We don't have time for that!" My aunt said gesturing towards Shawn making Raven roll her eyes.

"Hey sisters!" Shawn came and hugged us and we began walking to the car. We got in as my aunt started her long and daily rant about how we need to be the example for the team.

"Pops said what you want for dinner?" Shawn whispered to me.

"Anything with fat." I responded making him laugh.

Our family is a bit confusing. My aunt was Shawn and Ravens mother, (who were twins) but we aren't cousins. Well we technically were but we all had the same dad, which makes us siblings.

My dad cheated on my aunt with her sister which was my mom, who might I add is out living her best life.

So I live in California with my dad and aunt. I was co-captain of the cheerleading team, and Raven was captain. Our Aunt was our coach, and she did a great job at it, but she pushes us a little to much.

Shawn was the co-captain of the basketball team, but to me he's the best.

We go to Valley Prep high school, home of the Huskies. Our colors were of course , white and gray.

As we pulled up to our house we saw our dad on the porch getting our food. I mentally sighed because I knew my aunt would say something.

We all got put the car and into the house we went.

"Why was there a man outside handing you food? I told you I would cook dinner." My aunt started.

"What are you talking about?" My dad said, making my aunt do a fake gasp.

"Michael we are not about to play like I didn't just see you getting some food off the porch."

"Miranda don't nobody wanna eat healthy all the time!" My dad said with a attitude. "Damn, they gone be skins and bones fucking with yo ass."

"No cap." I said starting to walk away.

"Kali where are you going?" My dad asked.

"Shower!" I yelled back, before going into my room.

********

"This is nice." My aunt said. I stared at my plate in disgust. There was no way I was eating this and there was no way you could make me.

"What's nice about this?" Raven asked staring at her plate.

"It's either eat this or eat what he's eating and going to the gym from five in the morning until eight." My aunt said.

We all looked at eachother and nodded. "Okay." Shawn spoke and slid the plate away from him, as we did the same. We all stood up grabbing a plate and going over to the chinese food.

"Y'all know y'all my kids." My dad laughed.

"So Shawn how was your day?" My aunt asked Shawn. This was something we did everyday.

"The classes are easy." He said. "Just flying straight past them."

"Well you need to slow down." My dad said. "Junior year is going to be hard."

"Tell me about it." Raven mumbled. "I can't believe they put me in all these advanced classes."

"They put my boy in credit recovery." Shawn spoke. "He real smart."He finished making me choke on my food a bit.

"Credit recovery is for people who don't have all their credits, idiot." I spoke. His mouth hung.

"That's why the office lady ain't give me that class?"

"I'm guessing." I shrugged.

"Back to me, so ontop of all that stress, mom over here thinks she a drill sargent or something." Raven spoke. "All she does is yell at the team, she needs to relax."

"You think that's bad? We play Sierra Canyon in a couple of weeks." Shawn started. "You know how hard coach is making us train?" He asked. "I almost passed out in practice."

"Enough about y'all ." My dad said, before turning to me. "How was your day?"

"You mean without TeTe Miranda acting crazy?" I asked glancing at her. She ignored us when we talked about her coaching skills. "It was tiring." I shrugged.

"It's because of that damn phone." My aunt said making my mouth drop.

"Typical black mother line." I rolled my eyes making everyone laugh.

This was my life and I absolutely loved it here .
