As Julia unlocked the phone, she tapped the notification and called Sarah back. She didn't know the woman, but she knew it was the right thing to do.

“H-hello? Lou? Oh god are y–”

“Uh, sorry. This is Julia, Louise's cousin.” She interrupted Sarah in a low voice. Taking a deep breath–after Sarah's dead silence–, Julia spoke again. “I-I know you're friends with Louise, and I thought you should know... she had an accident yesterday. I don't–I don't really know much right now but she's doing better, she-”

Of course, Sarah didn't let her continue. She stopped listening after ‘accident’ and her voice got caught in her throat. Julia agreed on texting her the hospital and once Sarah calmed down she'd drive there.

The blonde didn't know what happened either, but by the pressure she felt in her chest, she felt like she was the one to blame.

Tears fell from her eyes as she drove across the city, and just like in movies, slow motion memories of her and Louise went through her head. It was silly, since her cousin said she was doing better, but she was scared. She could lose not only the love her life, but her best friend above all.

“Hello–hi, uh... I'm looking for Louise, Louise Geller?” Sarah’s voice was agitated as she reached the reception, her eyes red and puffy. The woman on the computer almost felt sorry for her. “Second floor to the left.”

“Thank you, Miss.” The blonde whispered and followed the directions. She felt like her legs were about to give up as she climbed the stairs, but she made it.

“Sarah?” Her head turned as she heard someone calling for her, and spotted a girl with black hair and almost the same eyes as Louise. “I’m... I’m Julia.”

“Oh, hello... Thanks for calling me, I've been dead worried since yesterday.” Sarah scratched her scalp and looked away, noticing another guy in there.

“Sorry– he's my brother, Luke,” Julia chuckled. “This is so awkward, uhm... Anyway, before you keep worrying, the doctor checked on her a few moments before you arrived. Louise hasn't woken up yet, but she will soon. Her injuries are only superficial, which is good... considering what happened.”

Julia had a calm tone, which was really helpful for Sarah. She took a deep breath and looked away for a moment, trying to stop the tears for falling.

“What exactly... happened?” Sarah asked, biting the tip of her tongue. Julia sat down and pointed the empty space next to her.

“A car ran over her, or she did... honestly I have no clue. It wasn't that bad, like, she was distracted and the car stopped in time but still hit her. It’s never happened before, she's always been extra careful, but according to the driver she popped out of nowhere.” The black hair woman sighed. “She hit her head though, so they're monitoring her since she didn't wake up yet, but she will. Doctors said so.”

Doctors said so...” Sarah whispered, leaning on her seat and wrapping her arms around herself.

“Gonna grab something to eat,” the boy interrupted quietly. “Want something?”

Julia asked for a bottle of water while Sarah shook her head, to deep in her thoughts to care about anything else like food.

“It’s my fault, I know it is.” She mumbled, her eyes watering again. She didn't mean to cry, but it was almost inevitable. She cared so much about Louise, and she couldn't stand the thought of her being hurt.

“Excuse me?” Julia asked her, looking at her with curiosity and slightly moving away. “Your fault? What do you know?”

“I... I know, she's really careful. All the time. If I–If I would've kept my mouth shut, things would be very different right now.” Sarah sighed frustrated, hiding her face with her palms and trying to breathe. “I shouldn't have kissed her, for god sakes!”

“W-what? You–you kissed her?” Julia stared in disbelief, her brain slowly connecting the dots. “You’re the girl she told me about! Sarah! I thought you were from work or some stuff... Oh my.”

“She... she told you about me?” Sarah slowly asked, wiping her tears away to face the woman.

“I kind of pushed to get some information, I mean... she spent the whole day on her phone and I assumed she met someone, and boy I was right... She’s like, over the heels for you! damn, she thinks you're completely out of her league.”

Julia looked away and chuckled to herself. It's like everything made sense for her, but nothing made sense for Sarah at all.

“What do you mean? She practically ran away and told me not to do it again...” The blonde sighed, feeling mad at herself for letting that slip out of her tongue. She didn't even know the girl and she probably embarrassed Louise –who was laying unconscious in a hospital bed–.

“Are you kidding? She's literally in l-”

“Here’s your water!” Luke interrupted them, making Sarah chew on her lip anxiously. The teenager threw the bottle to her sister and in a matter of seconds they saw a couple of nurses running into Louise's room.

Now that couldn't be good, could it?
