Chapter 10- I Need This Quest
We walk into the crystal clean room, and I see 6 other kids groaning on the beds. One kid I see has a broken leg and his blonde hair is all muddled. Another kid in a bed not too far from mine has a healing fairy hovering over him, trying to pull a broken spear head out of his stomach. I wince at the thought of a spear in my stomach and sit down on the bed Josh shows me. I wonder if all these kids… were somehow fighting something really big that approached the Fort. “Everything is in shambles,” Josh said to me as he sat on the tip of my bed. I took a good look at him, and he looked so… tired. He looked like he has been running, and tripping like, every second. I see a sword tucked underneath his arm, and a dagger in a pouch clipped to his waist. He even looks older. “What do you mean, in shambles? The order? Is, is everything still in one piece?” I asked. What if those witches and wizards kept approaching? “No.” He replied. “No…? Josh. I know things are really hard for you and the staff right now, but what is going on? And you better give me a straight answer this time.” He glared at me and his green eyes are glinting with resent. “The Fort, is being Overrun. If somebody doesn’t find the Fire Fairy Stone, and soon, Fort Mystic will be destroyed. Without all 3 stones protecting the Fort, the required amount of protection needed to keep the Witches and Wizards out won’t be provided.” I blink hard, trying to process all he’s just told me. “So…” Before I could say anything, a girl with light yellow latex gloves on ran up to Josh. “Josh! The cat, Fokani…” Josh whipped around to look at her and stood up. They darted down the walkway together and walked into a room. I sat there, completely bewildered.
I mean, there could be nothing wrong with Fokani, right? About 5, maybe 10, whatsoever, minutes later, Josh emerged. He walked out little by little, and his green eyes dimmed, like he had just been to a funeral. His head was sunken, and his eyes barely caught up with mine. “Alara, I’m, I’m so sorry.” What? Sorry about what? “Wait, wait, wait, and hold on just 1 minute.” “What exactly are you sorry about? Did a Fairy die?” “He looked up at me. “It’s- its Fokani… Her wounds were really extreme, due to the poisonous shadow blasts from The Hollow, and she won’t be awake or moving in a couple until a couple weeks later. It’s like she’s in a coma… Alara, she, might even die if she doesn’t awake in the anticipated time.” I sat there, staring at him. Even If I was completely frozen on the outside, my head was exploding! Fokani?! I just found an actual, true, ANIMAL friend that understands me, and 1 week later, there’s a chance she might be gone?! It’s like everything I touch or come near to, ends up dead or hurt! I was still sitting there, mouth open, when I started to tear. Josh tapped me and I snapped back to reality. “No… Fokani… She was my best friend...” Josh sighed. “Alara, please remember, there is only about a 50% chance that she might die! She might be alive! Just in a very deep sleep…” I nod slowly, even though I feel like lying on the floor and bawling to death. I sniffle, but when I do my nose hurts ‘cause it’s broken. He notices me starting to quench in pain a bit and stands up. “I’ll go get a healing fairy.” He walks away and I sniffle again. I can’t help it. I scrunch down on the bed and lay down. My heart was aching. I had a splitting headache. Everything was coming at me once, bad and good. Well- mostly bad. Josh arrived and Gwen was following him. “Hey Gwen.” I managed to cough. She nodded and smiled weakly. Her hands hovered over my purple arm- bruise and it vanished as the glowing yellow essence covered it. It was now a faint purple spot, but it didn’t hurt anymore. “It’ll take a while for the rest of the purple to go away.” I sniffled again and nodded. She saw my nose leaking blood and hover her hands over it. I felt a bone-and heard- a bone crack into place. (That hurt for like a second) then it returned to its normal peach color and I felt better. She smiled, but she looked weaker then she was when she came here in the first place. She stood up, and slowly started walking, Josh trailing behind her. She got slower and slower, then, she collapsed! Josh caught her just in time and carried her to a bed. It was surprisingly easy for him, considering she was 2 sizes bigger. He set her down and rolled the sheets over her. He acted in no surprise at all! He walked over to me. What I’m guessing, is she probably healed me too much. Yep, I’m the culprit. Always. He sits by me and sighs. “That happens with all the Healing Fairies. Once they heal to certain point, they collapse. It drains them of their energy, and Gwen’s been healing some major stuff. Like broken legs, broken arms, shattered skulls… “Wait, what have all these kids been doing? While I was, being attacked?” He looks at them all. “Fighting a mass heard of witches and Wizards, including Goblins that were trying to swarm Fort Mystic.” “Oh.” I say. I manage to stand up and I jump off my bed. “Can I ask you something?” I say to him. I stand up straight and glare at him. He jumps off the bed and stands across from me. “What’s wrong?” “Do you think The Hollow has anything to do with the kidnap of my Mom and Dad?” He backs away. “You, are you sure you want to know?” What? He knew already? Talk about friends. “Well, yes. Please! This is important to me!” He hesitates then slowly begins to speak. I tense, wondering what he’ll say. “Well, years ago, when you were just a baby, an evil being named Maleficent raided your home.”

I narrowed my eyebrows, listening closely. “She was meaning to take you, because she knew you were one of the most powerful fairies in the world. So, she tried to get past you’re parents, but your father blinded her with his power while your mother, Heather hid you in an enchanted closet that could take you wherever she pleased. So she took you to your Cousin’s house. That’s about the safest place she could think of. They- tried to fight her off, but, after that day, your parents were never heard of again.” I shook my head. “What do you mean…? Never heard from again? I… I don’t get it! Why on earth would she need my parents?!” I felt confused, I felt like ripping my hair out and making Maleficent or whatever her name was eat it. He saw my frustration and nudged a bit closer. I started to feel a burning sensation in my throat and without warning, tears came flooding out my eyes. I tried to control them but just ended up weeping. My life was a disaster. Josh was just a few steps away and I grabbed onto him. I cried on his shoulder and hugged him tightly. He gasped in surprise, but then, I felt him hug back, in a warming way, that made me feel a bit better. When I felt well again, I sat on the bed and quickly wiped my tears away. He sat beside me. I felt angry, and I was going to ask him for something that I would never ask to do. “Josh… I need to go find my parents. I don’t care what happens. I… I just need to.” He stares at me for a moment then jumps back off the bed. “Are you crazy?! Maleficent will kill you! You need more training!” I got so irritated and annoyed I jumped off the bed with such agility I amazed myself and gave him a piece of my mind. “Listen Josh, I don’t care what you say. I am going to Mr. Marpin and asking him for this quest. These are my parents I have to remind you, and I will go after them, no matter what. You don’t know how fed up I am with people telling me no all the time, so you know what? I am going, and there is nothing you can do to stop me.” He looks at me for a second and looks at the ground. “You know what, you’re right. Who am I to stop you from finding your parents?” He steps aside. “Go ahead.” I tilt my head in confusion then I run out the room, going immediately to Mr. Marpin’s office, not stopping.
