It must have been the anticipation for Kaminari's next phone call that made my week drag. I couldn't stop my mind from day dreaming.
"I'll have to pull out my kotatsu table," I said to myself as I sat in the bath, "I wonder who's willing to come by."
Deku's been all over the news recently, being the number one hero and all.
'I wonder if he'll be able to find the time,' I thought sinking lower into the bath.
I was sure that more people would want to come over if they knew that he was going to be there. He was friends with everyone, and even though Bakugou denied it, they were friends too.
I didn't have much planned today, but then again, I didn't have much planned any day. I had just come back from my morning walk. I liked to wake up early so I could say, "hello," to my neighbourhood, where there were many morning walkers whom I enjoyed stopping to chat with.
I stop in stores as well to talk to the shop keepers. Locals that watch the news recognize me as the former ninth top hero. For the past year and a half, I had never had to ward off a villain in this little town and I can only hope that that day will never come.
The majority of the farmers and shop keepers were elderly. The farmers who were taking a break would say, "hello," and wave to me, while the shopkeepers would sometimes ask for my help with lifting and unloading boxes.
The walk home is when I really I take in the scenery. I usually walk down towards the river bed, and once I reach it, walk alongside it. Depending on the time of year, you may see kids standing or sitting near the river, walking along side it, and sometimes even swimming when the weather gets hot enough.
I saw no one near the river this morning. Both the sky and the water were grey.
Once I had decided that it was time to walk back home, I stopped and looked up at the clouds. They were thick, and it was the coldest that it had been this fall.
'It looks like it's going to snow,' I thought.
Then I turned and worked on getting myself back home.
I pulled the drain in the tub and stood up. My wet hair was cold on my skin so I didn't hesitate to step out and grab my towel, which was hanging on a hook beside the door.
I first rubbed my head with the towel in an attempt to dry some of my hair, and then I worked on my arms, legs, and torso. After slipping on a clean pair of jeans and a plain black t-shirt, I bent over, flipping all of my hair in front of me, and then I wrapped it up with the towel. It was one of the many secrets that only women knew.
I stepped out into the upstairs hallway and shivered. Man, it really was cold today.
I had a bathroom downstairs beside my bedroom, but that's all it was, there was no shower and no tub.
The downstairs level was more for living. My bedroom was down there, along with the kitchen, the dining room, the rec room, and a small bathroom.
The upstairs level was more for business and storage. I had an office up here, a bathroom where I could bathe and do laundry, along with two spare rooms. I never planned on having guests so there were no beds or furniture, but the closets in them were stuffed with my seasonal clothes and hero costumes.
'Maybe I could buy some futons if this party gets planned,' I thought as I passed one of the empty rooms. It felt as if each step I took echoed down the hallway behind me.
I made my way down the staircase that connected both of the floors and walked into my bedroom. A small blue light was slowly blinking on my bed. My phone laid in the center, where I had tossed it before heading upstairs, earlier.
I picked up my phone and opened it. I had a missed call from Denki Kaminari.
I didn't hesitate to call him back. It was torturous listening to the ringing.
'You better pick up,' I thought.
Just as I was about to go to voicemail, I got connected.
"Hey, Y/N! What's up?" He was so casual.
"What do you mean, 'what's up?'" I asked, "I'm returning your call from earlier."
"Oh yeah," he replied, laughing. My god, how he hadn't changed.
"Have you gotten a hold of anyone?" I asked. Why was I the one who was carrying this conversation?
"I called everyone," he started, "We have at least half of the class totally into the party."
"That's great!" I exclaimed.
"Do you have a pen and paper?" He asked, "I'm gonna tell you who's coming by."
'Yeah, one sec," I said as I made my way back upstairs. The office was the first room on the left, and I didn't hesitate to I walked in. Three quick strides brought me over to the desk at the back wall. I picked a pen out of the little cup that I had stuffed with stationary. There was a printer off to the side. I pulled open the paper tray, and grabbed a piece of printer paper.
"Okay, I'm ready," I said to Kaminari, the pen already on the paper.
"We have," he started, "Uraraka, Tsu, Yaoyorozu, Mineta, Toru, Jiro, Ashido, Kirishima, Todoroki, Midoriya, Tokoyami, Aoyama, Iida, and myself," Kaminari finished.
"Wow, that's a lot," I said a little surprised.
I scanned the list he had given me.
"Bakugou's not coming?" I asked, not completely surprised.
"He said that he'd stop by if he, quote-un-quote, 'had nothing better to do,'" Kaminari said not sounding impressed in the least.
'Stop by,' I thought, 'as if traveling in from the city is the same as "stopping by."'
"I guess he hasn't changed," I mumbled.
Kaminari chuckled.
"Not in the least," I could hear a faint smile in his voice, "anyway, what's your address, so I can hand it out."
"Oh right," I said, snapping out of the thought.
I gave my address, and we said our goodbyes.
"See you in December," I said, and he returned the phrase.
We hung up and I sat myself on the edge of my bed.
'I guess I'll need to buy 14 futons for everybody,' I thought, sighing. At this rate, I'm going to have to go back to my agency sooner than I wanted to.
All there was left to do was wait.
