"And now, it is time for the sorting to begin." The headmaster- Dumbledore- said, as the anxious chattering besides you grew.
"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted." The tall witch besides him said.
You watched as the students began to step forward one by one, Hermione landing in Gryiffibdor, (a sigh came from Ron besides you), and both Harry and Ron followed suit. You watched as the blond boy- Draco- received shouts and applauses from the slithering table as he was sorted. And then it was your turn.
"Yazar, y/n."
You sat on the stool, welcoming the hat the was placed onto your head.
Before the hat slid over your eyes, it shouted out, "SLYTHERIN!" And you were chosen. A Slytherin. Your father would be proud.
Shouts and cheers came from the table on the far left as you stepped down the pedestal, a smile on your face. You glanced at the gryffindor table, the frowns on the trios face coerced your own smile to fade, only slightly.
You turned to the Slytherin table, locking eyes with the glaring blond boy as you sat besides a black haired girl.
"Don't worry about him." She said, noticing the silent conversation the two of you were having. "He's not worth the time, to be honest. I'm Sarah by the way. Sarah Black. Fifth year student, close family friend of the Malfoy's."
You smiled at the girl, "I'm y/n Yazar, nice to meet you."
You were stuffed as you looked at Dumbledore beginning to speak once more. "Ahem- just a few more words now that we are all fed and watered. I have a few start-of-term notices to give you. First, you should note that the forest on the grounds is forbidden to all pupils. A few of our older students would do well to remember that as well."
Dumbledore's twinkling gaze landed on someone in the Gryffindor table, continuing. "And finally, I must tell you that this year the third floor corner on the right hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a very painful death."
You scoffed at the few laughs in the room, did they really think he was joking?

"What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood." The cold voice of Professor Snape drifted over you, spearing into the black haired boy behind you.
"I- I don't know, sir."
You watched as a sneer formed on the Professor's face, "Tut, tut- fame clearly isn't everything"
You jerked your head at the sniggers besides you, Malfoy and his newfound friends mocking Harry.
"And how was he supposed to know that, Malfoy?" You hissed at the boy, "He lived in a muggle family."
"Yazar, Malfoy. Quiet down." Snape continued, "Potter where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar?"
The humiliating silence drew longer this time, the cackles of the three boys besides you simply grew. "Shut up Malfoy." You said. "You're not doing anything good."
"Make me." The boy lifted his chin as Snape interrupted once more.
"Malfoy, Yazar. If you two seem so keen to speak, would either of you wish to respond instead of our celebrity here?" Snape interrupted.
You let out a scoff as the blond boy became almost immediately silenced.
"I will, Professor, since Malfoy so kindly offers to pass." You said, "A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat, and it can save you from most positions. For the other question, I believe asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion called the Draught of Living Death because it's so powerful."
A slight smile escaped onto the professors face as you completed. "Correct. 5 points to Slytherin."
You sat back into your chair, a smile gracing your lips as you glanced to your side, Malfoy's reaction perfecting your day.

Classes went by, herbology, transfiguration, defense against the dark arts. You were walking back from the quidditch courts, shocked at the events that had unfolded before your eyes. As much as you wanted to say it was Malfoy's fault, this time it was also Harry's, and he really shouldn't have done that.
"He needs to be more careful," you whispered to yourself, walking towards the steps leading to your common room. "He's going to get kicked out if he continues rebelling."
"Aww if it isn't the wannabe pure blood." A voice shook you into reality, Malfoy. "Who were you talking about right there?"
"11 years on this planet and you still have not learned how to keep your nose out of other peoples business." You sighed, "don't worry, it's not about you for sure, Malfoy."
"Ooh ho hoo it's about your new boyfriend Potter isn't it?" He spat out, "Potter and Yazar, you're perfect with each other. The halfblood and the wannabe pure blood." Malfoy let out a snicker, leaning back onto the wall behind him.
"Harry is just my friend, which shouldn't be anyone's business other than mine. And for my blood line, if you so want to be proven wrong, I'll ask my father to kick yours off of the ministry." You let out a smile, eyeing Hermione excitedly running in the distance.
You turned back to face the boy, he was shorter than you by almost half a head, which made his spluttering mess all the better. "Anyways, I'll be off." You started to walk away from the boy until he began to speak.
Malfoy glared at you, "wait until my father hears about you. You- you'll regret it."
You stopped, turning around, "Well I hope he will." You said, "Don't forget to tell him that my father would like to meet him to talk about his position in the ministry."
You left Malfoy spluttering once more, as you dashed towards Hermione.
"Did you hear?" She said animatedly as you followed her.
"What happened?"
" Harry is apparently the new seeker for Gryffindor. I heard Ron's brothers talking about it not too long ago.""Wow, I guess Malfoy helped him out today." You let out a laugh, "maybe I should stop following school rules if I can get better success without them." You said sarcastically, grinning at the shock over Hermione's face.
"No! You could get in massive trouble for that, y/n, Harry was just lucky not to have been hurt or even expelled." Hermione said shaking her head.
"I'm just joking, Hermione, no way would I endanger my place here, even if I could theoretically force my father to bring me back here, if I'm quite honest." You said, letting out another laugh, "anyways," you nodded at the staircase to the dungeons, "I need to go study."
Hermione nodded, "I'll see you in the great hall tomorrow, right? Have fun studying."
You smiled, quickly stepping down the stairs as you entered the common room, the mere aura of it just making your soul feel at home.
You walked towards the back left corner- your corner- sitting down and taking out your books. There wasn't much to study, considering you had finished it all in class, but it's never too bad to prepare ahead of time. You took a deep breath, letting the air out with a happy smile as you took to studying.
