As I made my way to the front gate of McMasters Grammar, an all girls’ Anglican school, I was frantically searching for my best friends Charlie and Daisy.
“Lucy! Lucy!” I turned around to find just the two I was looking for, who by the way look absolutely crazy as they were jumping up and down whilst waving their hands around, trying to gain my attention.
Laughing as I made my way up to them and pulled them into a hug.
“Holy Shit Lucy” gasped Charlie “Did you see the video of Daniel Croman and Missy hooking up at the party on the weekend?” She whispered yelled at me to make sure others around us don’t over hear, although I’m pretty sure everyone knew about the hook up.
Being fifteen (almost sixteen) hook ups wasn’t ‘sex hook ups’ they were just more intense make outs sessions.
“ Yeah I saw it on Facebook, basically looked like she was trying to swallow him” I said fiddling with the ends of my school shirt as I watch Missy and Co walk through the gates.
Sometimes I can’t tell if I disliked Missy or if I was jealous of her. Her naturally long blonde hair, green eyes and the best tan ever, often made me envious, but her personality is want makes me dislike her.
She has that whole ‘I’m better than you’ vibe and attitude about her. Plus she thinks every guy is interested in her, I’ll admit that most males find her attractive, but the main kind that she attracts are the cocky, charismatic players, who in the end never actually want a relationship, they just like using you.
The loud shrilling of the school bell broke me out of my thoughts and I started moving along with Charlie and Daisy to Homeroom for the roll call.
We parted out separated ways, and I headed towards my classroom. As I pushed open the door I could hear ‘take me over’ by peking duk blaring out of the class speakers.
None other than Missy and her gang were grinding all over the room, I sat down in the desk that I always sit in and dropped my bag on to the ground below.
“Lu come dance” I heard someone call me over; It was a close friend Zoe who was also dancing with some of my other friends. I took a look around the room to see most were dancing to Missy’s music, apart from a few siting at their desks on their phone.I picked myself up and made my way cross to the group, swaying my hips with my hands up, we all started dancing and shouting the lyrics.
That was until the music was suddenly shut off and stood a furious Ms Bakly next to the speakers. Ms Bakly was known for being strict and very harsh.
“Anyone care to explain what drove you girls to have a dance party in my class room?” She asked calmly, but you could still see the fury in her eyes.
“Sorry Miss” mumbled Ivy, one of Missy’s close friends
“We were just working on our dance routine for out PE class” Missy said confidently, making Ms Bakly believe her.
“Well next time, please do it in your own time and NOT in my classroom”
We all nodded, mumbled an apology and sat down at our desks waiting for the bell to ring, signaling that first period has started.

The day moved slowly and lunch couldn’t come quick enough. I made my way to the large grass area outside the canteen where my friends and I sat everyday.
There was about eight of us in my group, Charlie and Daisy were my closest friends, then there were other friends within the group.
When I arrived they were already siting on the grass in a circle doing random stuff while eating.
“Do you think Fred is a Faggot?” asked Daisy randomly with her phone in my face,I then realized she was snapchating and was taking about her thirteen year old brother. Even though he was Daisy’s brother, he has always felt like mine as well.
“Freddie’s a pain in the ass” I said to the camera “joking I love you”
I could hear my other mates laughing in the background.
“So how’s Jack doing?” India asked Charlie with a smirk on her face. Jack and Charlie have been dating for the last month and a bit, so it was kind of a serious relationship.
“He’s good, we’re good, everything good” replied Charlie bitterly as she bit into her sandwich.
“Are you okay” I questioned “because everything doesn’t sound that good”
She stared at the ground before sighing, “No everything is good, but that’s the problem”
We all looked at her completely lost and confused.
“Everything is just good, just fine. Nothing is great or spectacular, we have no sudden urges to kiss each other or hold hands, and there’s no wow factor, nothing that makes you think “fuck I couldn’t live with out you” and that’s the passion I want” Charlie then suddenly grabbed her bag and took off for the school building.
We all started at each other wondering what just happened until Zoe spoke up and said, “What the shit just happened?”
“I’m going to go find her,” I said standing up and dusting of my butt and went in the same direction as Charlie left
As I got closer to the school building I wonder were she would be, I heard sniffles coming from around the corner, I went to check if it was her siting there.
Charlie sat there with her back against the building and cigarette in hand. Deciding to ignore the fact that she was smoking, I tried to deal with her crying, I had down next to her and gave her an awkward sideway hug.
“I met someone,” she said after minutes of silence
“What’s he like?” I asked curiously
“ His name is Luke Caden, he goes to the local public school down the road, and god he’s trouble,” she groaned leaning her head back against the wall.
“We met a couple weeks ago, at some random party. He was this confident, arrogant prick, but something made me really interested in him and I started hanging out with him after school, and Lucy, It just all clicked. There was this spark, I didn’t have with Jack and I probably never will. Me and Luke are always fighting but we keep each other on our toes, I like that about us” she admitted
“Luke and I remind me of Allie and Noah” she giggled “ugh he even got me into smoking” she said as she puffed out smoke
“What about Jack?”
“He’s so sweet, kind and I know he loves me and I can always count on him. Where as Luke is wild and unpredictable, I don’t know how long he will stick around and I’m certain he will break my heart, but I wouldn’t mind if he does"
“Jack’s your comfort zone” I stated, Charlie nodded
“Comfort zones are a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there” I said remembering some tumblr post I saw the night before.
