Thought my mom was mad I felt in my heart I did the right thing. Shes always been supportive of that. When I found out I liked girls I thought she would have my head. But she accepted me for who I am. She reassured me that she would always love me. That's really all I could ask for.
When my dad left I was confused seeing as though I was only a child. The kids made fun of me for having no dad. So I often turned my pain into anger. I was known to be a troublemaker but no one knew why nor cared. I guessed that was to be expected just another black girl without a father. I often asked my mom why he left us.
[Flashback]
It had been a cold night my dad had just came back from work. He look disoriented I could smell the alcohol all the way from the catch. I had been too young to understand. He started screaming at me. Calling me all the names i would rather not repeat. When my mother heard the screaming she rushed down. She saw him about about to lay his hand on me. She suddenly hit him it was to fast for me to process. She screamed at me to run. Like the little scared girl I was I ran. I Could hear my mother cries all the way from my small room.
It continued all night. When he went to work the next day she came into my room. She sang me the song her mother sang to her at night.[FLASHBACK OVER]
So while we sat in silence may i remind i dont know i dont know any o f these people names. "So how was your day at school" me and my mom looked at each other. "It was interesting to say the least"
The couple chuckled "well I'm mary and this is my husband mike" she said smiling. Honey she said why dont you introduce yourself. Then the dark haired girl looked up. "I'm rosaline" she said as she looked away.
"Well aren't you a pretty thing" my mother said. But the rosaliline didnt even bother to spare a glance. We all sat in awkward silence as my mother started passing out the food. Rosaline mother looked over to her daughter with a glare and then suddenly to me and said "how old are you could be exactly my daughters age." I looked over and smiled yo be polite "I'm exactly seventeen turning eighteen in four months." Well gee your in highschool by the looks of it you look 15".
"I get that quite a lot maybe it becaus I'm a child at heart."once I said that she smiled. The mon made quick chatter while the finsished eating. Mary thanked my mother for the delicous food. And said " i believe you will be seeing my daughter on monday". She said as she smiled "im sure i will." Oddly enought rosalie turned to me and winked. As her and her family walked out the door.
Me and my mom looked at each other "so we both saw that right".
