Chapter 10
"Say 'ah' Emily, this is the last of it," Greyson indicates at his empty saucer, and I comply without any question. The sweet and tangy taste of lemon meringue pie melts in my mouth. I down it with my warm salted caramel mocha. The sweetness removes the bitter aftertaste.
Grey's ocean green eyes locks with mine, interest making me almost choke on my coffee, but I manage to swallow it. Everything about him just looks so handsome to me-especially his sweet smile. His ostentatious messy hair, and fit built, makes every incoming female costumer glance at him and giggle, but not once did he pay attention to them.
"Look at them, looking like some old couple," Jake murmurs as he wiggle his eyebrow in a suggestive manner, making me blush.
These days it's hard to look at Greyson without my heart beating erratically and blood creeping to my cheeks. I assume it is because of the separation anxiety from my friends that's making me feel all warm and fuzzy. Three entire weeks has passed and not a single day did I never miss them. I'm just grateful that they took a half day off, to spend it with me and Alvin.
Alvin, being the floater he is, blended along with everyone just fine. He introduces himself as my "platonic-non-homosexual-friend" which made them laugh, as he pointed out that I'm cute, in a sisterly material way. We chatted for the longest time and I pleaded with Alvin as we were driving to the city to meet them, not to say anything about our work together. I assure him it's best that way since they will definitely become a regular at the café and it's going to make me rather self-conscious.
Looking at the clock, it says it's time for them to leave to make up for their lost time in the for afternoon shifts.
"Are you sure you're okay to leave?" I ask Tricia as she steals glances at the glass reflecting Alvin's face. I sort of let out a giggle which caught her attention, making her red as tomato.
"I think we're gonna have to drag her out of here," Jake murmurs and takes a sip of his coffee. Kim nod's her head in approval as she scrapes the rest of her crème brûlée of the fine china-her usual mime-self in place.
"I don't wanna," Tricia pouts and gives us her best puppy dog eyes. Catching Alvin's eyes, it made both of them red.
"I don't wanna, either," Grey looks at me and pouts. It makes my heart go pit-a-pat, positively making the pink tinge on my cheeks red. The impression is rather too cuter that it makes me want to hug him but instead I reach up ruffle his hair like one would do to a puppy.
"We'll visit again when you're not busy. I think we have more reasons to come back, don't we Al?" I turn to wink at Alvin.
"What? Yeah I guess," he replies his face flush, looking out the window.
"You guys go ahead-" Greyson looks at the watch around wrist, "yeah, a minute or two before our parking expires." Trish gasps and comes to terms with reality, bolting upright and cussing loudly, then out the door like a lightning. Automatically, Alvin tells me that he's going to check our ride as well.
"I'll go with you," I'm about to stand up when Alvin glance at Grey, then nods.
"No, it'a fine. I'll pick you up in a bit," he replies and rushes out the door.
"What was that about?" I ask, looking at Grey for answer.
He sighs dreamily breathing out the words "Young love."
"You think so? They're totally going to hit it off."
"Uh-huh." He nods and leans across the table, making me flinch at the proximity.
"What? Is there something on my face?" I ask, mortified, and covering my face.
Greyson chuckles and removes my hands out of my face, placing them gently down the table. He leans closer and extends his hands to my face. His long finger whisks my bangs off to the side, touching my forehead, leaving the trails ablaze.
