Haru aimed his gun at Victor. He's trying so, so hard to stop shaking. But how can he? Daisuke and Victor are both fighting close combat. There's two lives at risk and he refuses to let it end like that day. He can't let it end like that day. He takes a deep breath and attempts to aim at Victor. His mind is racing. Ok, I can do this. He readied his gun. But what if I end up killing him instead? He started to shaking. What if I miss? What if it hits him? What if it hits Kambe? He shook violently with anxiety. I-I can't. I can't take the risk of hitting Kambe. Haru put away the gun. All he could do was watch as Daisuke got beaten up by that man.Victor aimed the glowing cannon on his arm at Daisuke and fired but luckily he dodged it by a hair. Daisuke was really weak. He's too beaten up and barely has enough energy left to keep this up. Victor fired again and Daisuke dodged again but this time he fell over from exhaustion. Victor took this opportunity to aim at Daisuke again. He couldn't stand back up.
Haru was still hiding behind the huge shipping containers on the ship. No... I can't let Kambe die! He knew what he needed to do.
"KAAAMBEEE!!!" Haru bellowed as he ran to save his partner's life. Was that Kato? Daisuke opened his eyes to watch the scene that was playing out before him. Haru jumped in front of Daisuke.
"Kato what are you doing?!?" Daisuke asked.
"I need to tell you something Daisuke! I love you! I always have! And I hope we meet again soon!" Haru yelled with the brightest, biggest, warmest smile on his face. Daisuke reached his hand out to try to grab him.
"Kato w-wait! Kato hold o-"
'BANG!'
The cannon fired. But Daisuke didn't have a single scratch. Haru and his safe, warm, bright smile weren't in front of him anymore. He slowly turned to look behind him. There he saw Haru laying there, launched a good ten yards away.
Daisuke screamed.
He screamed so loud that the people all the way on land could have heard him. He slowly turned to Victor. He had a huge grin on his face.
Daisuke stood up. He's beat up, in pain, and covered in bruises, but he stood up.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!" Daisuke screamed as he ran at Victor with his fists clenched, ready to kill him. Kambe knocked him to the ground and punched him in the face. He kept on punching him, and punching him. Not stopping once. Even after Victor had passed out he didn't stop. He had too much hate in him to keep holding it in.
Hate for his father.
Hate for what happened to his mother.
Hate for the world.
Rain started coming down and Daisuke finally stopped. Victor's face is covered In blood, two black eyes, and lots of bruises.
Daisuke was tired. So, so tired. Tired of the world, of the hand he was dealt in life, and so much more. But then he remembered.
Haru Kato.
He ran as fast as he could to him. His partner, his best friend, Haru Kato.
By the time he got to Haru he was out of breath. He looked down. Haru was surrounded by a pool of blood. Warm, dark, fresh blood. His shirt and old, brown jacket were burnt and soaked in red. Daisuke dropped down to Haru's side.
"Kato?" Daisuke shook him. "Kato wake up." He shook him again. "Kato, please wake up." He intertwined his fingers with Haru's limp hand. Tears started to swell up in his eyes. He knew what was happening but he didn't want to believe it. "Haru... p-p-please get up." Footsteps approached behind Daisuke.
"He's dead Daisuke." Daisuke looked up only to see the thing he hated most in the world standing right next to him. His father. Shigemaru Kambe. "It's such a shame though. He reminded me so much of your mother." Shigemaru paused for a moment as Daisuke stared in disbelief. "If he were alive I would have taken him for myself, but like your mother his life was short and insignificant." Daisuke stared at his father in shock. "This is all your fault Daisuke." Shigemaru taunted.
No.
"He would still be alive if you had just left him out of all this!"
Stop it.
Shigemaru crouched down next to Daisuke and whispered in his ear. "Him and your mother would still be alive if you were never born."
"STOP IT NOW!" Daisuke screamed.
"You know I'm right." Shigemaru taunted.
Tears streamed town from Daisuke's eyes as if someone had turned on a tap. "HARU TELL HIM TO STOP!" Silence.
"He's gone Daisuke."
"HARU TELL HIM TO SHUT UP!" More silence. He grabbed haru by the remains of his shirt collar. "Haru... please say something to him. P-P-Please... say something to me." Daisuke sobbed.
"You're such a disappointment Daisuke." Shigemaru spat. "And here I was thinking you were more like me. Sadly you're more like Sayuri than I thought." That was it. That was the last straw. He knew what he needed to do to let all of his anger and sorrow out. I'm the blink of an eye he snatched his deceased partner's gun and shot, hitting Shigemaru point blank in the head.
"THIS IS FOR MY MOTHER!"
'BANG!'
"THIS IS FOR CHO-SAN!"
'BANG!'
"THIS IS FOR TAKEI-SAN!"
'BANG!'
"AND THIS... THIS IS FOR THE LOVE OF MY LIFE HARU KATO!"
'BANG!'
Shigemaru Kambe had died instantly from the first bullet, but Daisuke just needed to let it out. Nineteen years of pain, anger, and sorrow just had to be let out. And who better to let it out on than the one who started it all. Daisuke dropped to the ground, shaking. He turned to Haru's pale, lifeless, cold body. He picked him up and started to walk over to the shipping containers that Haru hid behind earlier.
He leaned against the cold metal of the container and slid to the ground. He held Haru's body close. The rain got stronger and the wind got faster. The only warmth he had was the little warmth left in Haru. He hugged Haru and cried. For the first time in 19 years, he cried over someone. The last one being his mother. He screamed and cried for him to get up already. He squeezed him and begged for something. The smallest twitch would have been enough. But that wasn't going to happen.
With tears running down his face and the shakiest of voices Kambe shouted over the wind. "H-H-HARU P-PLEASE W-WAKE UP!" Silence again. No sound but the wind, rain, and ocean waves bashing against the metal of the ship and the shipping containers.
He'd lost so much. He kept loosing so many things that no amount of money could ever fix. "G-Guess what Haru? You were r-r-right. Money i-isn't always the a-a-answer." He shakily whispered to Haru. With Haru still in his arms, he picked up Haru's gun and opened the chamber. There's one bullet left. He looked at Haru with tears in his eyes and a quivering smile on his face. "I-I'm c-c-coming Haru."
He closed the chamber of the gun and held Haru tight. Daisuke held the gun to his head and put his finger on the trigger.
" Sayonara everyone."
'BANG!'
