Part 8 •Tolerance•

It can happen over a few months or years but for us it took about 1 1/2 years to get to stage 5. Tolerance.

When Aleks and I got to this stage, I fought against it, but sadly I lost.

I was so disappointed in myself, I practically let this happen.

Some how, the guy I was crazy about, just over a year ago, became some who just wasn't really special anymore.

It happened so gradually that I never even saw this coming.

And here we are just tolerating each other.

We'd fight over the stupidest things.

-flashback-

I was washing the dishes when Aleks came back from the office. It was around 7:30-ish and pitch black outside in the cool, calming, and winter-ie Colorado air.

"Don't even ask me how my day was"

" I won't" I whispered.

"I swear the guys are trying make me kill myself"

I continued washing the dishes.

"Where do you want to eat tonight?"

"Wherever you want to go..."

"Can you just decide?! I asked you!"

"And I'm being flexible, you pick" I insisted.

"You sound like a 5-year-old always needing someone to tell you what to do"

Normally we'd both let it go, but I was having a bad day too so...

"What did you just say!"

Arguing is one thing; something every couple does, but feeling unhappy and dissatisfied with the relationship is another.

We had tried various times to fix things, but like so many couples out there, it just wasn't enough.

It soon became a relationship where it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

And let me tell you, that's never a good way to describe a relationship.

At 10pm another night

"Well I guess I'm going to sleep now...." I yawned.

"Okay" he sighed.

"Goodnight"

"Goodnight"

We'd used to stay up until 4 in the morning laughing our butts off.

I just don't see where this all went wrong.

Where this all disappeared to.

But it wasn't long before we entered stage six. Downhill.
