The sound of chatter filled the halls as Classic stumbled through the doorway. He was exhausted from staying up all night to complete a project. While it had come out decent, it was far from good quality. The bad quality and his lack of energy were a sure way to fail, that was for sure. Even so, he hadn't really minded. The project was his and Epic's, so suffering to finish it was worth the price of being tired down to the bone!
He had been so lost in his own mind thinking about Epic that he hadn't realized another skeleton approached him. A hand shaking him drew Classic from his own paradise and threw him back into reality. He sighed internally when Red stood before him. His 'boyfriend'. Recently Red had been distancing himself, though Classic wasn't sure why.
"Why so late?" Red's voice was low, almost demanding. Classic judged him momentarily before shrugging. He wasn't in the mood to tell his whole life story, plus Red's questions never stopped once they began. Classic moved slowly down the hall, Red rushing to remain beside him. Red was one of the 'cool' guys, though it didn't really matter to Classic. His best friend was a jokester, always getting into trouble for pranks. "Classic would you stop ignoring me?"
"I'm not ignoring, just tired Red." Classic's voice was monotone as Red froze slightly. He stopped walking before snagging Classic's sleeve and jerking him back. The sudden movement startled him as he lost balance. The force of being swung around left him breathless as his back hit the lockers. Eyes had turned to the commotion, but one glance from Red, everyone scurried away. He wasn't someone to mess with.
"Cut the crap Classic. You're avoiding me, or simply ignoring me. What did I do?" Classic scowled before shoving against Red. The skeleton growled before applying more pressure. He forced Classic back onto the lockers before he narrowed his sockets. His voice grew low as he moved closer, his fingers playing at Classic's jacket. "Don't forget who you belong to Classic. Don't step on me or you'll regret it, understood?"
Classic trembled slightly as he began to nod. His eyes widened the moment he noticed a familiar rubber chicken. Holding back his laughter, he watched the chicken bounce off red's head, the skeleton stepping back before throwing a punch. Classic watched Epic dodge the attack before he swung the rubber toy once more. It connected with Red's cheek, a stifled laugh slipping from Classic. Red glared before he noticed the few onlookers. Some were shocked, others tried best to not laugh. Red growled low before rushing off, leaving Classic to have his laughing fit.
He fell to the floor as fear was still swimming in him. Red was terrifying at times, but Epic had always arrived at the best moments. His friend glanced at him before smiling, his hand reaching out. Classic took it as he rose from the floor.
"He didn't hurt you, did he?" Epic sounded worried, his gaze softening when Classic shook his head. "Good! Otherwise I'd have to teach him a lesson bruh. I can't have my best friend bonely!"
"Shut up!" Classic chuckled as he bumped Epic, a wide smile on his face. The sight made Epic flush slightly as he turned his head away. Classic hadn't noticed as he began to walk toward his class. Him and Epic shared most classes, which helped strengthen the friendship. They spent so much time together that they had become inseparable.
"Can I ask why you even still date that asshat?" Classic pretended to be shocked as he gasped slightly.
"Language young man!" Epic grinned as he raised his arms defensively.
"Yes mom! As you wish." Laughter erupted between the two before Classic returned to his serious nature.
"We've been together for years Epic. I can't just ditch a relationship." Epic frowned as he placed his hands on the back of his head.
"I mean... You could! Nothing is keeping you there. We both know you love him, but he doesn't show he loves you. He treats you as mere property. I worry about you Classic, you know that!" There was a long silence as Classic nodded. His expression was laced in sadness. He was aware of the distance between him and Red. He loved Red as well as Epic. Epic was his best friend, which was why he chose Red. Both were something he desired, but one risked ending something years of talking had built. He feared losing Epic more than Red.
"Let's just drop it, okay? Come on, we have class." Epic nodded as they moved in silence toward their class. Neither knew what to say. Both felt like one wrong word would deal a major hit, so neither spoke a single syllable. Sometimes silence was the better option, especially when it came to Classic.
Class had been dreadful. Classic had dosed during the test, leaving him with a blank paper by the end of class. Epic wasn't any better off. He had been so worried about Classic that his attention never shifted to the test. To say the least, both were aware they would fail a hundred percent.
Classic stumbled out the door, a long groan leaving him as Epic chuckled. After being scolded by the teacher, neither were truly interested in classes. Epic had been the first to speak since the lingering silence from earlier.
"Wanna skip class bruh?" Classic glanced at Epic before nodding, not a single bit of hesitation on his face. He simply wanted to sleep and Epic knew that. His fingers grabbed Classic's hand lightly as he led him down the hall, both skeletons ignoring the voices and prying eyes. None of them mattered to Epic. They only thing that mattered was Classic.
They moved through the school before arriving at the rooftop. A gentle breeze rolled over the high building as Epic sat in their normal spot. Classic had taken a seat beside Epic, his head resting on the cement. His friend glanced toward him before hands moved Classic slightly. He snapped his sockets wide as Epic pulled his head onto his lap, a smile pressed to his features. Classic felt himself flush slightly as he rolled slightly, hiding his face as he raised his hood. He allowed his head to remain on Epic as he felt his skull grow warm. He couldn't help but notice how comfortable it felt. It was so different than when Classic laid on Red. There were a few times and Classic found it less than welcoming. Being with Epic left him feeling alive for the first time in his life. It was a feeling he wished he could treasure forever.
"Get some sleep, kay? I'll wake you before the next bell." Classic nodded as he snuggled against Epic's lap slightly. A hand pressed over his hood, fingers gently running along his skull above the fabric. The feeling brought a calming sensation as Classic felt his sockets slowly close. Exhaustion overwhelmed him as he soon fell asleep, his soft snores a melody to Epic's ears. He waited until he knew for sure Classic was asleep. Carefully he leaned forward, his fingers lifting the hood slightly. He gently placed a kiss on Classic's forehead, a small smile flickering over his expression as he noticed the blue color rise to his cheeks. A peaceful expression rolled over Classic as he inhaled slightly before releasing it slowly. Epic spoke low as he looked to the sky above him. The clouds rolled by as his voice was a mere whisper.
'I wish you could see how much I love you Classic. If only I could be in Red's place."
