Rachel was driving them to the bar. The night was cold and windy, they still had the windows down anyway. If Rachel could, she'd drive around for hours, non-stop. There was always something new and exciting to see. It weird to adjust to when she first came. She wasn't used to this lifestyle after spending her first 18 years in a small town in England. She has been in the states for a few years now, a few things were still weird and new to her.
As Rachel drove, Christen spoke and asked a few questions about the area. Rachel would happily answer. They'd go back and forth until they got to the bar. It was nice to have some new company here, Rachel thought. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, but meeting new people was always nice. Rachel was a people person. Her charm and sense of humor attracted people. It certainly attracted Westphal, but Rachel was oblivious to the flirting and all the touching that was going on at the bar all night.
Just after a few beers, the two decided it was time to do some exploring. Christen just casually slipped her hand into Rachel's, who didn't seem to mind holding her hand. Maybe she found it a little odd at first, but it was probably best to avoid getting separated and lost. They didn't know where to go first. Rachel didn't exactly plan this out, since she spent the last couple of hours getting to know her other friend. Rachel suddenly thought of her and wondered how she was doing. Did she take her advice and bother her sister about the game? Was she upset with her? So many unanswered questions, but her thoughts were interrupted when Christen called out her name.
Rachel looked at the blonde in front of her, who looked so adorable in her little beanie. Her crooked smile made Rachel's heart melt. The two stood in the middle of the sidewalk in each other's embrace for just a few moments, ignoring the background noise. None of that mattered in that moment, they were too focused on one another.
After they pulled away from each other, they continued their little journey around town for a little while longer. The pair complained how cold it was and decided it was time to end their night. They sat in the car. Christen was wrapped up in a small blanket that Rachel had in the back, while Rachel drove them to the hotel Christen was staying at for the next few weeks. The ride back was quiet, the sound of the radio was the only thing filling the silence. Nothing went wrong, but they were both too tired and cold to talk.
When they arrived at the hotel, Rachel turned to Christen. She wanted to walk her up to her room to be sure she was safe, but she wasn't sure if Christen would be okay with that.
"Come inside with me?" She asked and Rachel nodded her head without any hesitation. The pair walked side by side, close to each other to the room. The warmth of the building felt nice and comfortable, it made Rachel never want to step foot outside ever again. However, she didn't know if she was being invited inside her hotel room. She'd just have to wait and see.
Christen came to a halt, then turned to face Rachel. She flashed a warm smile, not knowing what exactly to say. Christen didn't say anything either, instead she leaned forward and pressed the softest kiss on Rachel's cheek.
"Come cuddle? I don't want you driving this late." Christen asked as she took a hold of both of Rachel's hands. She played with Rachel's fingers, noticing how cold they still were. Rachel responded by leaving a kiss on Christen's forehead.
"I'd love that, of course." As those words left from her mouth, Christen took Rachel by the hand and pulled her inside the room.
Rachel was lucky that Christen had an extra pair of pajamas in her luggage or else she would have had to sleep in jeans for the night, which was never fun or comfortable.
Once the pair were changed into more comfortable clothes, they were snuggled up in bed together. Christen was in Rachel's embrace as they watched television together. Every few minutes, Rachel's phone would vibrate loudly. The blonde was tempted to check her phone, but she didn't want to make Christen move from her position.
"Maybe you should check that?" Christen laughed, noticing the expression fixed on Rachel's face.
"I'm sure it's nothing. I'm too comfortable to move, anyway." She shrugged, kissing the top of Christen's head.
Christen's hand caressed the blonde's cheek, her eyes fixed on Rachel's lips. Without hesitation, she leant forward to press their lips together. Rachel was surprised, but proceeded to kiss her when she realised what was happening.
The two spent their night holding each other whilst exchanging kisses and sweet words until they fell asleep.
