Love at First Star

Chapter 1

Alex's P.O.V

After high school, life actually begins. You start college, work full-time, seeing who your real friends are, etc. Life changes for everyone whether they want it too or not. I have been out of high school for a year now and let me tell you life definitely changes. I am working at Starbucks that is right around the corner from my apartment. I got to Pepperdine University, in my second now. I live with my best friend, Sammy, who I have known for 14 years now. My other best friend, Jackson, lives with us half of the time. Oh and my name is Alex Smith.

Right now, I am working my 4th 8 hour shift this week. I start classes in two days, so I stacked up on shifts since I will have to lower my hours once classes start. It's not too busy right now so my manager let me take my break, which only lasts another two minutes.

"Hey Alex, John wants you up front." my coworker Katie says.

"Alright." I say and head to the front.

"Alex sorry, but there's an emergency at home with my kids. I have to leave and help. Can you close up tonight. I'll give you overtime." John says.

"No problem. I hope everything is good." I say as he leaves. I clock back in then started taking orders up front.

"Hi welcome to Starbucks, what can I get you started today?" I say and when I look up, I see one of the most attractive men in my life.

"Can I just get a black coffee." he said.

"Sure anything else?"

"No that will be all."

"Okay, that'll be 4.95 please." he hands me a twenty.

"Keep the change." he said and then went to stand off to the side.

I am so surprised, I put the twenty in and then take out the change and save it for my tip jar at home. As I move on to the next costumer after giving the order to my coworker, I realized I never got his his name. I just move on and continue my shift.

Once my shift is over, I make sure everything is locked up ad cleaned up. The I make my way home for my weekly movie night and junk food night with Sammy and Jackson.

When I get home, both of my friends are already set up and ready, waiting for me. "Sorry I'm late, John needed me to lock up because there was an emergency at home."

"That's okay. You're here now, so let the binge eating and watching begin." Jackson said as I raced into my room and change into sweatpants and a big t-shirt. Then I went back into the living room and sat I he loveseat and wrapped myself in a blanket.

"What are we watching tonight?" I asked my besties.

"We are watching the Pitch Perfect series." Sammy says.

"Plus a sing along." I asked.

"Fuck yeah." Jackson yells and we all laugh.

Sammy plays the first movie and we start our movie night. We sing along to all the songs and act like the characters. We laugh our asses off. We eat a shit tome of junk food and have one of the best nights ever.

Griffin's P.O.V

Two more days and my first year of being a professor starts. I am not as nervous as thought I would be. I know all the material that I need to teach my students. I just hope my ADHD does not take over. I have serious ADHD when I get really nervous. I have talked in front of many crowds and am on meds so it is contained, but it happens every once and a while and I completely loose my train of thought.

I have a couple more things to finish up before the first day, so I headed to Starbucks and got my caffeine because I knew it was going to be a long night. It's only two in the afternoon, but I want to get a couple weeks worth of work and lectures done. When I walk in there is only three people in front of me, so I stand and wait in line. I watch all of the workers make the drinks, take orders, and talk to each other.

I see one worker freak out a little and tells another worker something. She goes into the back then come right back out and another girl follows her. The second girl is one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. She walks over to the guy and has a concerned look on her face. The guy explains something to her. Then she answers back and the guy goes into the back, but doesn't come back out. The girl goes to the register and starts helping with order.

I'm the next one, so I step up. "Hi welcome to Starbucks, what can I get you started today?" she askes me. Even her voice is beautiful.

"Can I just get a black coffee." I said.

"Sure anything else?" she asked.

"No that will be all."

"Okay that will be 4.95." I hand her a twenty.

"Keep the change." I said and moved to stand off to the side.

I gave her the twenty, one because she is extremely beautiful and two because they do not get paid enough her.

I wait a little while and then get my drink was ready. As I grabbed it and started walking out the door, I look at the girl, who I saw her name was Alex, one last time and the walked back to my apartments that was two blocks away.

Once I got home, I laid all my work out and opened my laptop. I opened up my folder for week one and made sure that it was already posted on canvas for my students to see. Then I opened my email and emailed each of my classes with the class lists I have. I introduced myself a little and said I will introduce myself more in person on whatever day they have me for class. Then I go into explaining the class and gave a brief outline of the semester. Explaining that things might change based on the class and how everyone is taking in the information and the quality of the work. Lastly I said that I am excited to teach and see everyone. Along with if they need anything email me and I will be sire to get back to them as soon as I can.

After I sent each email, I looked through my other folders for future weeks and assignments to make sure I had a good portion of the semester was ready. Then I looked at the clock and saw it was only 9 pm. I cleaned up my stuff, the changed into plaid pajama pants and a black t-shirt. I decided to pop some popcorn and watch a movie and relax.

The rest of the night I ate popcorn and watched the first two Fast and Furious movies. I fell asleep on my couch during the third movie at some point. I woke up around 3 am to the fourth or fifth one playing. I stopped it and then went into my room to sleep the rest of the night/morning until I decided to get up for the next day.
