The Siren's Song [ The Umbrella Academy ]

I was born on the 1st of October 1989, in Santorini, Greece. The funny thing is, my mother was not pregnant when the day first began. I had lived in Greece for a long time, and helped from the age 2 on the docks.

You might be thinking, oh my gosh! you are the eighth member of the Umbrella Academy! That is not entirely true, however, when I was 3, I was adopted by a man named Sir Reginald Hargreeves and taken to live in the USA, and I wasn't sure why. My mother was more than happy to give me up, I was just an extra mouth to feed.

I never knew why this strange man adopted me, but he told me he ran an academy for 'special' children. He didn't tell me how I was special. I was named number Eight.

It was later revealed that I was a siren, to put it plainly. I was told this at age 4 (at which I could form perfect sentences and was incredibly intelligent for someone this age). No one knew why I was so developed and mature for my age, but after research, it seemed that sirens ages much slower than humans do, so they appear more youthful.

You might be thinking what can a siren do? Well, sirens are extremely beautiful women, who appear to be normal, but when they draw men in with their enchanting song, they turn into some sort of menacing-looking mermaid, with grey scaly skin and kill the men.

I wouldn't say that I am extremely beautiful, but I have long blonde hair that reaches my waist, olive skin, and brilliant green eyes. I must have inherited these from my mother, who is a spitting image of me.

I always wondered who my father was, and Sir Reginald Hargreeves always told me off for asking. However, our mother Grace, told me he was just some sailor.

Our dad was very keen on sending me on missions as soon as possible because as long as the 'bad guys' were men, I could easily take them all. The only problem was that because I wasn't in the water, I could never become my full siren form, and none of my siblings ever saw my true form, only dad, mom and Pogo saw it.

It always annoyed me how my siblings would treat me like I was a child, even though physically I was, mentally I was their age, and technically, I was their age as well.

*Hey guys, this chapter was kind of just an introduction to the character and sort of a backstory, because it's kind of complicated.
