People always told you about heartbreak, you always listened but was never able to put yourself in their shoes. You never thought it was going to happen to you. You and Arthur had a strong connection, a real one. Even the strongest winds from the middle of the Atlantic couldn't knock you two down. But things can be done and you don't always find out the right way. The way your heartbreak was unveiled was slow and cautious, like Arthur was trying to postpone it for as long as possible.

It's sad isn't it? We grow up thinking that love is this unstoppable force that will somehow fix everything that's ever been wrong in this world. No one ever tells you that love hurts more often than not. And no one ever talks about that unrequited love or crying at night while asking yourself why you weren't good enough for the one person you wanted.

No one told you about the harsh reality of letting go when all you want to do is hold on.

-Flashback-

The gang was still on its journey as west as possible, Dutch sought out the "virgin land of the west" as he called it. By 1897 the gang was in holed up in Southern Oklahoma by a small town called "Brayville".

It wasn't long before Dutch had the brilliant idea of robbing the bank in Brayville and fleeing West from there. Little did he know the people of Brayville weren't as wealthy as they liked to let on. There was only a total of one thousand dollars in the entire bank, which is a lot but definitely not a enough to get the gang out of the situation they were in. Unfortunately Mac got scooped up by the law and taken into a cell before you or anyone else had the opportunity to help him.

The camp was in a frenzy, everybody was on edge and had the undying fear of lawmen walking right into camp while everyone was trying to pack it up.

"We can't just leave him there, Dutch!" Davey insisted, he and his brother weren't patient men, it had only been a day since the robbery. You walk over from finishing helping Miss Grimshaw store any barrels and crates of food into Pearson's wagon.

"We're not leaving him, son," Dutch says and puts his hand on Daveys shoulder, "We're not."

"You just gotta be patient, Davey." You pitch in, "It's only been a day, he isn't in any trouble or harm. Not at the moment."

Davey shifts around before scoffing, "To hell with y'all!" He snaps and walks away.

"Just 'cause you're impatient don't mean you can't work!" Arthur calls after him, that man had a tongue on him alright, it's something that attracted you to him all the more, though you'd noticed he'd been distant. After you asked him about maybe leaving the gang one day after your wedding to start a family and an honest life, it was like he got offended. He didn't know any life other than the gang and you understood, but you wanted to know no other life than one you could create with only Arthur.
