Little Leafs Adventures A Warrior Cats Inspired Story

Ch.1

Little leaf awoke from a troubled dream, to her left bumble was snoring in his sleep, to her right blueberry was curled in a little ball her paws barley visible under her fluff. The rest of their litter was already up, oh how little leaf wanted her siblings. Her mind flashed to a memory of her and her 4 siblings drinking milk from their mother, followed by the sounds of screams she heard from the bones den as the den collapsed around her family...

She pushed the thoughts out of her mind and instead reminded herself of what today was, it was her first late sure gaurding. Little leaf was so exited she could barley contain her binkies. She raced through the tunnels a small worry in her mind, rushing past the warrior blackbush she burst into the open. "Hey" called blackbush,"watch out!" Little leaf mumbled a apology her mood instantly killed, oh I hope he dosent tell my mentor, birch, she thought. A picture of the muscular rabbit flashed through her mind. He had been such a great mentor and he had such high hopes for little leaf she wanted to cry when she thought of disappointing him.

Berry bones was sitting on a rock grooming her mate, leaf. Below them sat one of their oldest kits, forest. Forest bore a long scar crossing his pitch black flank, while he was a young adult he was one of the most serious, he earned the scar by sneaking out at night when he was still a tyro, a fox had been out that day. Only the 5 gods know how he got away. Little leaf tried to avoid him as much as possible, so did most other tyros.

"Ehem" coughed birch, startling little leaf out of her trance. "Do you want to go grub hunting before evening?"

Just then her stomach growled "guess that answers that then" he laughed. Slightly embarrassed she followed her mentor out of the hollow they lived in. Trees 100 times a rabbits size rustled overhead, their branches entangling to create a forest canopy. Dapples of light lit the forest floor but otherwise their territory was quite dim.

"I was thinking we'd head over to the berry meadows, the food is always abundant there" birch said in a confident voice. "Sure" little leaf replied. They ran through the Forrest side by side,the sound of their feet drumming the ground echoed through the tall trunks. Grass swept under her feet creating a tingling feeling, wind whistled through the Forrest streaming through her fur. Little leaf felt as if she were flying.

She started drooling at the smell of the berries in front of her. Birch pulled ahead of her through the tallest grasses into the berry meadows. Only a second behind him came little leaf. As she burst through the tall grass a blade caught her nose creating a small slice... A tiny drop of blood squeezed out and she winced. As she came to a stop birch looked back at her eyeing her nose. "Its nothing" she murmured licking her paws and drawing them over her nose in a quick movement. "Still have berry check it out just in case" birch responded. They started to eat some berries and after they were full the two rabbits picked the very best berries and bundled them in leaves to take back to their hollow.

The joy little leaf had felt this morning returned as she made her way through the Forrest. The worrisome thought she feared had been pushed out of mind. She shoved through the tough grass that bordered the hollow, nearly bumping into willow. "Oh I'm sorry darling" apologized the cream colored rabbit. Little leaf replied "Oh no you're fine  it was my fault really".

She continued into the hollow placing her bundle into the food den. Emerging from its tunnel little leaf scouted the area looking for berry bones. Hopping up to her she waited for the older rabbit to finish speaking. "Yes little one?" Asked berry bones. "Oh um I got a scratch on my nose, birch said to have you look at it just in case" berry bones pulled her closer, "you'll be fine, but come back if it starts being sore". Little leaf agreed pleased that it wasn't infected.

Finally done for now she flopped over in front of the tunnel leading to her own den. The sunlight warmed her belly as she watched rabbits come in and out of the burrow. Finally as the sun started to set birch hopped in front of her "are you exited" he smirked. The sun set reflected in his eyes, the beautiful oranges mixed with his bright green eyes. "Of course" she said jumping to her paws.

In the seconds that followed the rest of the patrol gathered, there was only one other tyro with her and it happened to be her older friend, blue berry. The rest of the group was made up of birch, Forrest , pine (blueberry's mentor) and dew. Little leaf was particularly fond of dew, one of the youngest adults.dew had been so nice to her as she became a tyro. Dew had shown her which of the older rabbits were easygoing and which should be avoided when doing mischievous things. Among the latter was black bush and Forrest.

The group set out, pushing their way through the bushes the six of them turned right bursting into a run. The border scents got stronger the farther they ran. Birch and pine took the lead their two tyros following close behind. Dew and Forrest brought up the rear. Blueberry and little leaf skidded to a stop barley managing to stop before crashing into their mentors. Dew and Forrest came right behind them nearly toppling the two youngsters. "Watch it" forrest grumbled. The two tyros and dew couldn't help but giggle quickly silenced by a strong glare from pine.

Birch took a few steps forward and paused, whiskers twitching. "Rat" he sighed. "I'll tell honey forerunner when we get back, it shouldn't give us a problem but other patrols need to keep a look out, rat bites can be deadly."

An anxious voice whispered in her mind consuming her thoughts. The rest of the day was a blur as her mind fumbled through all the worst possibilities the rat could entail. She lay in her nest her mind racing a mile a minute. Little leaf dosed in and out of consensus, trying to remember the blurry day. Finally she slept, slipping through dreams like water through fur.
