The students came off the train only to be greeted by a mountain of a man, saying, "First years, this way please. Come on, first years, don't be shy." He then took a look at the kids in front of him and said, "Hello Harry, Y/N, I'm Hagrid." Harry said, "Pleased to meet you." Y/N said, "How you doing?" Hagrid said, "Alright, this way to the boats."

They got on different boats, Harry and Ginny both were in a boat with Hagrid, followed closely by was Ron, Hermione, and Y/N. As everyone approached the castle they were amazed by what they saw. It was a glorious sight to behold.

Everyone eventually got inside the castle and Hagrid said, "Alright you lot, out of the boats and up the stairs." Everyone went up a couple flights of stairs to see an elderly woman waiting for them.

She said, "Welcome to Hogwarts, I am deputy headmistress Professor Mcgonagall, now in a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your classmates, but before you can, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points, any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house that receives the most points will be rewarded the house cup." Just then a boy said, "Trevor." He then grabbed a toad that was in front of Professor Mcgonagall. She looked at him and he apologized and went back to the crowd. "The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She then left.

Just then a voice from behind the group said, "So it's true then, what they were saying on the train, the Potter twins have come to Hogwarts." Everyone mumbled at this. The owner turned out to be a boy with heavy amounts of hair grease on his head that Y/N could smell. The boy continued, "This is Crabbe." Pointing at a short fat boy. "And Goyle." Pointing at a taller boy, but still fat. Both of them looked like henchmen, all muscle, no brains. "And I'm Malfoy." He then approached the twins and said, "Draco Malfoy." Ron snorted a laugh at this and Malfoy looked at him and said, "Think my name is funny, do you? Don't need to ask your's, red hair and a pre-owned robe, you must be a Weasley." He returned his attention to the Potter twins and said, "You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, boys. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort." Looking at Ron as he says that last part, Malfoy offers his hand and says, "I can help you both there." Harry said, "I think we can tell the wrong sort for ourselves, thanks."Y/N said, "Besides, you strike me as a spoiled biased brat."

Before Malfoy could say anything else, Professor Mcgonagall tapped him on the shoulder. Malfoy looks at the two boys and then takes his place back in line. The woman said, "We're ready for you now, follow me."

She opened the doors and everyone went inside. Everyone was looking around with a since of wonder. As they approached a stool, everyone gathered around it. Professor Mcgonagall said, "Now before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

An elderly man stood up and said, "I have a few things that I would like to announce. First years, please note that the dark forest is forbidden to all students, and I believe that I should remind some of our older students." He said, looking at Fred and George. He continued, "Also our caretaker, Mr. Filtch, has asked me to remind you that the corridor on the third floor is strictly out of bounds to everyone who would like to reach a ripe old age, thank you."

Professor Mcgonagall then said, Where I call your name, you shall come up, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses." Before she could the hat said, "Oh, while you may not think I'm pretty, but do not judge by what you see. I'll eat myself if you can find a smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats tall, for I am the Hogwarts sorting hat and I cap them all. There's nothing in your head that the sorting hat can't see. So try me on and I will put you where you aught to be.
