"Where the spider and scarlet moon shall lie." The leader started to read what was written off of the page he held in his left hand. I concentrated on every word that was spoken, paying close attention to every detail. My young master's ability for fortunes came out in the form of a few poems; generally over the span of a week. This time, it seems this had produced one overall poem, which was odd for her nen. But since Chrollo had stolen it to use towards his advantage, maybe he figured out something that my young master couldn't? "Yet careful of one's plans," He gazed into my eyes as he continued to read off the page, reading it confidently, as if he'd already memorize the lines written.

"The scarlet moon admits defeat," Chrollo's lips turned into a small smile, as my eyes widened in exasperation "You're lying!" I yelled at the man, rattling the nen infused chains that restrained me from breaking loose. The poem was easy to follow, being very easy for me to decipher what it exactly meant. "No!" I continued crying out at him, he must've been lying; there's never a chance where I'd ever surrender to him!

"You're wrong, you bastard!" The chains above me kept rattling as I fumed at the Troupe's leader. I could feel myself slowly starting to lose more of my myself at the accusation- The fortune is fallacious. I squeeze my eyes shut tightly trying to block out the information given.

"And the triumph of corn moon rises." The man with black hair finished his sentence, placing the small book into his leather jackets pocket.

where the spider and scarlet moon

shall lie;

yet careful of one's plans,

the scarlet moon admits defeat

and the triumph of the corn moon rises.

"Boss, does that mean-" Machi started to inquire, looking up to her boss, she held a micro-expression of slight disgust; her lips curled in disdain. I wonder what exactly she was evaluating in her mind. They communicated as if it were telepathic, already knowing the answer before a question was ever fully expressed.

"I'm unsure." Chrollo looked down. Infuriated at what was just read out loud to me, I refused to believe it was true; yet it appeared the poem didn't sit well with Machi either. She looked rather displeased. Shalnark's expression was still warm and gentle, he looked unsure of what to think about it.

"Well on the bright side boss, you win!" Shalnark smiled at their leader. He seemed more keen on the idea than the woman, but then again, he was always cheerful, so there was no telling whether he genuinely felt a certain way. "You're not thinking about- are you?" I heard the blonde male speak before the rest of his words became suppressed, and no longer audible enough for me to apprehend clearly; until the end of his sentence.

I hung there in disbelief, repeating the words of the spider in my head; the words that pierced through my chest. Me being defeated nonetheless, by Chrollo.

"Admit defeat.."

"Defeat.."

I feared that my worst of nightmares will become a reality, and I'm not sure there will be anything I can do about it when the time finally comes to take its toll. I would've done all, for nothing at all.

'Will this be what plagues me?' I questioned myself, running over all the possibilities of how I would ever divulge defeat to him; despite all this, my conclusions were pointless, leading to the same answer in every scenario I played out, and that was death. If death wasn't the only way out, then I wouldn't know what else it could've been. Having said that, admitting defeat was different. I excreted Chrollo with my entire being; I would be damned if I ever gave into his vile ways. I would become what I detested most.

I sigh as my thoughts carry on, blocking out what's happening around me, I just wanted this all to end; although there was a feeling that this was just the beginning. I told myself I would avenge my fallen brethren, no matter the price, I was willing; without a care if it cost my life. This was my life's purpose, after what he'd taken away. But if the fortune were proven genuine, would I be able to defy fate?

By the time I'd noticed everyone in the room was gone beside Chrollo, he'd already started articulating.

"I know you're intelligent- you understand what my fortune predicts." The older male turned his head slightly to the side. I hadn't noticed until now, but he'd been sitting in a chair in front of me. 'How long had he been sitting there like that?' I pondered to myself, I must've spaced out.

"You're wrong..." I spoke out, trying to maintain sedated speech. My head was faced towards the ground, not making eye contact with the spider, trying to remain as composed as possible put under a situation, such as this one. "Ah, but you see- You're mistaken, these fortunes have never been imprecise," He turned the corners of his lips upward. I knew he was evaluating something, he must've had an idea, that I was unaware of. Remaining quiet, peering to the ground, I could feel my throat tighten, as a lump gathered in my Adam's apple, I wanted to choke out a cry; but I repulse against being seen as more vulnerable then the position I'm already in.

"So, why would they start being faulty now?" He questioned, the man with black hair, crossed his leg over the other. I could feel his eyes gape into me while I wasn't looking.

"You know that's not how it works Kurapika," Chrollo said, pausing before concluding his sentence.

"you've seen how it functions."

I shake my head disagreeing, and clench my eyes shut in vexation trying to calm myself.

"No, no- you're lying." I couldn't believe him, I didn't want to believe him. Even if I heard these words out of my young master, before she lost her nen, I wouldn't have accepted it. There was no possibility that I'd ever confess defeat.

"I'll never admit defeat to a monster like you!" My tone raised inflamed, it was hard to contain my anger around Chrollo, when I wanted nothing more than to kill him. My eyes focused on the floor- I saw his feet walk closer to me, then his hand shooting up to snatch my face in between his fingers, his grip was strong. He held my face steady to look back to his face, squeezing tighter whenever I'd attempt to move my face away from his and his grip.

"I have a proposition for you, Kurapika." The leader spoke out serenely while studying into my eyes. He was very composed when talking- he seemed like he had everything planned out a few steps ahead.

"Join me." My eyes widened in disbelief at the words he'd just spoken. Join him? Hah- he must be some imbecile to think I'd ever consider joining the thing I loathe most. He disgusted me. I spit onto Chrollo's face as a response to the vile question he'd just inquired about. Chrollo threw my face out of his grip, and wiped the spit from his face. I weakly smiled with pleasure after spitting onto his face, it was a good feeling. The older male didn't say another word, just turned a heel and made his way to the door, leaving me in the dark room. Once the door shut, I felt a slight upbringing of peace as the darkness filled my eyes again, leaving me completely alone; I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep due to exhaustion.
