Lana Lang, the head cheerleader, girlfriend of the captain of the football team, Whitney Fordman. Clark Kent, well, there was nothing special about Clark, apart from the fact he came from the planet Krypton and he had superhuman abilities such as super strength, heat vision and x-ray vision. He also had the ability to run faster than the human eye could see, but these were all abilities he had to keep secret from everyone. The only people in the world who knew of his background were his parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, and his best friends, Pete Ross and Chloe Sullivan. To the people who didn’t know, Clark was just a completely normal sixteen year old. As a result of working on the school newspaper The Torch, Clark was hardly noticed around school and not many people even acknowledged his existence, not even Lana.

Clark watched her warming up with her fellow cheerleaders, ahead of the Smallville Crows football game, later on in the day. He was sat in the stands across of the field to her, just imagining what it would be like, speaking to her, being the one who made her smile, stroking her skin, kissing her, he had butterflies in the pit of his stomach at the thought.

“Hello, earth to Clark!” Clark took his eyes off of Lana and became aware of the fact that his Chloe and Pete had approached him.

“Oh, hey guys. I was just…”

“You were just fantasizing about a Miss Lana Lang again, weren’t you?” Chloe said, taking a seat next to him. “It’s alright, Clark. Maybe one day she’ll see you creepily staring at her and she’ll realize she’s in love with the creepy farm boy who doesn’t have the guts to even speak to her.” She joked.

“Haha, very funny, Chloe. It’s not that I don’t have the courage, it’s just... What would I even say to her? We’re completely different people. I mean, she’s a cheerleader who’s with the captain of the football team, and I’m just Clark, member of The Torch and farm boy.”

“Clark, you know you could be a part of that football team if you wanted to. You could be twice the player Whitney Fordman is.” Pete chipped in, trying to make his best friend feel better.

“You know I couldn’t use my abilities for something like that. People would figure it out.” Clark sighed.

“Not necessarily, if you just ran a tiny bit faster than the rest of them, just upped your strength a tad, no one would notice. They’d just think you were great!” Pete said.

“Shut up, Pete. You know Clark can’t do that that would be wrong. Wouldn’t it Clark?” Chloe interrupted. She stared at Clark waiting for an answer and he knew she was right, Chloe always was.

“Chloe’s right, Pete. That wouldn’t be fair to the rest of them. I’ll just continue to be the farm boy no one gives a damn about.”

“Hey, don’t say that. We care a whole lot about that farm boy.” Chloe said, softly punching Clark in the arm. He grinned at the two of them and then went back to watch Lana.

After the game, Clark bid his goodbyes to Pete and Chloe and began to walk home alone. He began to look around; making sure no one was around before he ran at his insane speed, when he saw Lana, about to cross the road up ahead. She had her head down, not noticing a huge lorry heading her way.

“Lana!” Clark screamed. He ran at his super speed towards her. He got there just in time, pushing Lana out of the way, before tripping, resulting in them both landing in a heap on someone’s front lawn. Clark doubled over in pain. Only one thing caused this amount of pain to him and that was meteor rock. There must have been some nearby. It wasn’t until Lana sat up that Clark realized where it was coming from. Around Lana’s neck was a necklace, a green piece of meteor rock sat in the middle of it. Clark rolled away, trying to get some distance between him and the rock.

“Wow, thank you so much. It’s Clark isn’t it?” Her brown eyes twinkled under a nearby street light.

“Yeah, it is. How did you know my name? He asked, not taking his eyes off of her.

“Well, we’ve kind of lived next door to each other for the past thirteen years, Clark. It would be a bit weird if I didn’t know your name!” She grinned at him. Clark smiled back, not believing the luck he was having. “I really don’t know how to thank you enough, Clark. You saved my life!” Lana exclaimed.

“Don’t worry about it; I’m sure you’d have done the same.” He smiled at her.

“How did you even manage to get to me? That lorry must have only been about two yards away from me when you saved me. There’s no way anyone would have been able to get there in time!”

“I guess it was just adrenaline kicking in.” Clark said, trying to think of a reasonable explanation.

“Well, I’ve got two tickets to a local gig tomorrow night, I was gonna take Whitney, but he’s out of town visiting his family. Do you want to come with me?”

“Erm… I’d love to, Lana.” He paused, noticing a puzzled look on her face. “We’ve lived next door to each other for about thirteen years, it would be weird if I didn’t know your name!” He mimicked her.

“Shut up, you!” She replied, laughing. “Hey, are you walking home? We could walk together if you want to?”

“Yeah, okay.” Clark smiled, standing up. As Lana got up and started to walk towards him, the pain caused by the meteor rocks returned. “On second thoughts, I’ve left something at school. Maybe we can walk home another time?” He said.

“Well, alright, another time then. See you later.”

“See you round.” Clark headed back in the direction of school. Lana began to walk in the direction of home, before she thought of something.

“Hey, Clark…” She turned around to see that Clark had disappeared. How was that possible? “He’s a strange boy is that Clark Kent.” She said, smiling to herself.
