I walked home from school through the rain, passing the many warm cafe's with families and screaming children. I longed to go in there and sit with them... Although I knew I wouldn't be welcome. My skirt that I had since year 7, a pair of short black boots that were cheaper than school shoes, and my tights with ladders up on the back of the leg. All I had in means of warmth was a tartan scarf wrapped around my neck, which frankly was soaked through. I ducked my head down just as the waitress was about to look up from the family she was serving. I walked hastily away from the cafe window, towards the street I lived down. It looked very rough. I pushed aside the door and stepped inside, the wallpaper was all torn off. Dad must of been trying to redo it. Suddenly realising how silent the house was, I took the opportunity to bolt upstairs, though as I reached the second step, my dad calls me down to help get Jasmine ready for swimming. I sweep him away and smile at Jaz. She really liked to swim, and that was the only thing that kept her happy since mum died.

"Why do we have to go to school Belle?" She questioned me. I knew I would've asked exactly the same question when I was her age.

"Well Jaz, if we don't go to school, we won't get a job. And if we don't get a job, we won't live happily ever after."

She still looked miserable, well done Belle, a great way to explain school to a 7 year old. I was only 15, now I'm the expert apparently.

Mum was only 18 when she had me. I was very small when i was born, my Mum dreamed of me becoming a musician, and playing music, but I really liked art, and that's the way I wanted to go in art.

Mum named Jasmine and I after her favourite Disney princesses. Belle from beauty and the beast, Jasmine from Aladdin. And as I grew older, beauty and the beast is still my favourite Disney film. When I was 11, my mother died, I loved her sososo much, and I knew my father would let himself go after her death, she and Jasmine were the only things that mattered to him. Instead he just lay around, he lost his job, his life, I had to fend for us, Cook, Polish, I had to escape school early to get out and get Jaz. Then someone changed my life, that was my primary school teacher Mrs Baker. She was the teacher I had when my Mum died, and It was after I left primary school that I had to pick Jaz up early. When I was sneaking into the primary school, she pulled me and Jaz black into the classroom to question us. I fell into her arms and cried, said she understood the situation and would not normally do this, but she said that she would pay for Jaz to go to afterschool club until I could get out of school and pick her up. I was so greatful to her, the club also fed the children, which meant that she would get a dinner and snacks. Mrs baker also slipped me food, cans of baked beans and microwave meals. Anytime we needed anything, we were to go to her. And we swore on that. She said that she had far too much money, and would do anything to have two bright beautiful daughters like us. I was touched by this... One day she may, she is still very young. I didn't realise how helpful she was being, but at the same time, my dad was being rude and careless. I lost my trust in him, forever, and I hated him. So did Jaz, but she never talks about it much. Jaz is my world, she is perfect. Her midnight black hair in two long braids. Eyes as grey and clear as diamonds, with pursed light pink lips and flawless skin. Yet her appearance was tired, she had dark circles under her eyes and her skin was grubby. I could see why, dad was being such an arsehole at the moment I felt that I just wanted sleep also, without any worries, that was impossible.
