Things were never really "normal" for peter.
And honestly? He'd have it no other way.
This was just how life was for him. If it were to suddenly change and become everyone else's "normal" his brain would stop functioning. Dramatic you might say, but true. You're probably confused. So let me tell you the story of a boy...
"Peter! Come on now, we can't be late!" Richard called for his son, who was currently upstairs doing who knows what, in a rather rushed tone. Soon, a small boy with unruly hazel hair made his way down the stairs. In his hands he clutched a blue plush rabbit with a small white bow around it's neck. Two black button eyes were sewn on, one slightly lower than the other. "Sowwy! I was getting mr. wabbit!" He had a hard time pronouncing his r's, but what could you expect from a four year old?
Peter had an attachment to the small toy, carrying it everywhere. Car trips, dentist, doctor, you name it. It was always with him. He'd been given the toy when he was born, and it appeared he planned to keep it until he died.
A sigh escaped Richard's mouth, accompanied by a soft smile. "Come here kid." Lifting Peter up, he made his way to the door where his wife, Mary, stood. "Alright, we've already stayed longer than we were supposed to, let's go." Helping Mary with the two suitcases, Richard went to open the door. Only someone else opened it first. Five men with loaded guns burst in, aiming them at Richard and Mary instantly. Before a single word could be spoken, Mary was down on the floor with a bullet between her eyes.
A choked sound made its way from Richard's throat, as he tried to process what had happened. But once he did, he clutched Peter close, determined to keep him safe. The men payed no attention to them, and dug through the suitcases. Files, samples, sercurity cards, passports and a few other things were taken before they stopped. Turning their attention to the father and son, one slowly raised his gun. No explanation was provided, no apology given, nothing. Nothing but two words before the trigger was pulled.
"Hail hydra."
And Richard Parker lay dead by his wife.
Peter stared, ears ringing from the loud sounds. His momma and papa just lay on the floor in front of him, unmoving. He wondered if the floor was a nice place to nap. He'd have to try it someday and see. But right now, he was awake with no intention of napping. Nails digging into his little rabbit, he looked at the strangers. Momma always said never to talk to strangers. And momma was always right. So he stared, not uttering a word. The men didn't seem to like that. "One of you grab him! We have to be back tomorrow! Hurry up!" A rough calloused hand grabbed his wrist and began to pull him up. Squeaking in surprise, peter tried to wiggle away. The last thing Peter saw was the but of a gun, then black.
(So like I've never really written anything before.. Was this okay? Is there something I need to change? Was it to long or too short? Honestly open to any criticism. Thanks for reading!)
