Chapter 1

I walked slowly towards my first and only class of the day lost in thoughts. Last night I had realised how big a mistake I had made. How had I allowed myself to get so caught up? What in God's name possessed me to get in involved with him? What prompted me to post that video? Why couldn't I have gotten a female tutor? What was I going to do? How was I going to get myself out of this really sticky situation? All these questions were running through my mind and I didn't have the answer for any of them.

I took a seat at the back of the class just as the lecturer entered the room. Looking up from where my eyes were trained on my lap, I saw him wink at me. Remembering what happened last night, I resumed staring at my lap. Disgusted with myself, I found myself thinking about home.

I left Jamaica two years ago to attend NYU. It seemed like the right decision at the time. I could have easily have gone to the University Of The West Indies, who have an excellent language programme, but I chose to study abroad. I was starting to regret that decision.

As I sat there thinking I realised just how much I missed my native land. I missed the people, the food, the music and everything else Jamaica had to offer. Most of all I missed my family; my over-protective mother, my crazy aunts, uncles and grandmothers. Hell, I even missed my sister who I haven't spoken to in years. But the persons I missed the most were my brothers Javille and Jovian. They were the ones who were there for me at all times. They were the ones who protected me whenever I needed protection. They were the best big brothers ever.

I left them all behind to pursue my dream of becoming a translator, but maybe I shouldn't have. If I had my family with me there was no way I would have gotten myself in this situation. They would have made it impossible, offering all the help they could. I was starting to feel that leaving Jamaica was mistake number one.

I placed my head on the desk and cried for the remainder of class. My life was truly a mess.

When class ended I made a mad rush to the door determined not to be the last one out. I couldn't face him. Not today. However he and fate had other ideas.

"Miss Walker a moment please", he called out.

I took a deep breath before turning and walking towards him. Taking slow, hesitant steps I stood in front of him just as the last student left the room. He motioned for me to go into his private office.

He stepped inside his own private room and locked the door behind him. He sat on his desk looking at me.

"Did you want something sir?" I questioned looking anywhere but his eyes when he didn't say anything.

He still didn't say anything.

"Mr. Hall???" I asked once more.

He got up off his desk and came to stand in front of me. Using his index finger he pushed my chin upwards but I still refused to look in his eyes.

"What is it?" he started, "Can't you look me in the face?" he asked

He started to kiss down the length of my neck. I placed my hands on his chest and pushed back as hard as I could.
