The phone rang with intensity and urgency causing Jim to rush from the kitchen to answer the phone. The aroma of spiced chicken sizzling on the stove danced with the breeze through the room, Jane his wife was meant to be meeting him at home for lunch, but she’s thirty minutes late and she hasn’t called, he rushed to the phone, hoping it was her calling to say she was going to be coming late. Hello, good afternoon is this Mr. Parker the voice on the phone said, yes it is Jim said anxiously and shocked at the same time, he was expecting it to be his wife calm and gentle voice speaking through the phone so he began to panic. Mr Parker the voice continued I am Thomas hays from Saint John’s hospital, I am sorry to say this but your wife was involved in an accident, her severe injury to the head, and had internal bleeding; we couldn’t do much for her when she arrived. She died 20 minutes ago during surgery; we will need you down at the hospital immediately to identify the body, the voice on the phone said without emotion attached to it. But Jim mind has already left him when the said he’s wife was dead. He grabbed his jacket and went through the door, entered his car and driving through the streets towards Saint John’s hospital a mad man.
Jim had never cried before but tears were flowing down his eyes like a river. Everything was happening so fast his whole world was crumbling down and there was nothing he could do about it all he could think of was his daughter and who was going to take care of her and what will become of them. He reached the hospital and asked for her hospital room and rushed in there. They had already covered her up to her face and he removed the sheet and when he saw he face he confirmed his worst fears that she was already dead. That’s when he fell helplessly on her and was determined to never let go. The nurses and doctors tried to take him out of the room but he pushed them and just lay on the body of his dead wife.
