The headache I experienced the morning after the party was one for the books. I felt as if I could see sounds, if that makes sense. Lights had never been so bright and I felt as if a cat had taken a huge dump in my mouth while I slept. How people did this every weekend I could never understand. I was surprised to see that I had actually slept in until almost noon. The bigger surprise was that Brenda was already up. She greeted me with a big smile and handed me and much needed cup of black coffee. I nearly spit it out when I tasted the alcohol in it, that was the last thing I wanted to drink. Brenda placed her hand under my cup, 'drink it all down, it'll make you feel better.'
I hated to admit it but she was right. By time I was done with my shower my headache was mostly gone. 'So, we are going out again tonight,' Brenda said as she closed the door behind her then skipped off to where ever she was going. She didn't give me a chance to answer but I felt a grin cross my face. I really did have fun last night and although I hated to admit it, I really liked hanging out with Brenda.
When my phone rang and I picked it up I couldn't help but laugh. There was a picture of me and Brenda laughing on the home screen of my phone and the lock screen was of some guy I didn't even remember taking a picture of. I didn't recall setting the pictures to my phone but when I answered my phone laughing my dad seemed happy to hear it.
'What is up with you this morning?' he asked, 'you seem to be in a great mood.' 'I am,' was all I said then dad started in with the usual questions. 'How is school going, How are classes, Have you been keeping up with your grades, Have you made any new friends?' I stopped him on that question, 'actually yes I have dad, and I went to my first party last night and had a blast. I drank and had my first hang over this morning. I love you and will call you next week.' I said with a giggle. I was sure that my dad would call me back immediately but surprisingly he didn't.
The day seemed to drag on as I waited for Brenda to come back from where ever she had been all day. I felt like a little kid waiting on the cool kid to come hang out with me but I refused to let her see that. I would be confident and fit in with her and her friends if it was the last thing I did.
On the way to my 'yes' second party ever, I got this monster headache. 'Here drink this,' said Brenda, as soon as we got to the party. I took the drink and quickly forgot the pain I felt before. It would be another few hours before I woke up with everyone staring down at me. 'What happened?' I asked. 'You fainted, are you okay,' I reached out my hand and realized it was the boy from the picture on my phone. He was my lock screen mystery guy and I had just fainted in front of him. What the hell was going on?
