Chapter 1

Jeongmi's POV

I was in deep sleep dreaming about my favorite yaoi couple when my stupid alarm woke me up. I lazily got out of bed and looked at the time. Shit! I'll be late to school. I rushed to the bathroom to wash my face and was disgusted at the sight in the mirror. My hair was a mess and I had a huge pimple in the middle of my forehead. Great, as if going to school wasn't bad enough. Now I have to spend extra time covering it up.

I did my morning routine and went downstairs to eat breakfast. I saw my parents in the kitchen talking about some reality show that's really popular now. They were so caught up in the conversation not acknowledging that I'm here. I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat. They turned to me a bit startled.

"Good morning honey"- said my mom with a smile that makes me want to slap her across the face. I just hummed and started eating freshly made pancakes with maple syrup. At least something good today.

My dad sat besides me on the table and took his daily newspaper.

"Did you do your homework"- he asked not even looking at me. I hummed in response and continued eating.

"Honey, please don't be rude to your dad. We just want to make sure that you're doing your work so you can be successful like your brother and sister."- said my mother.

The pancakes in my mouth suddenly become bitter and I lost my appetite. Totally ignoring what she said I took my backpack and jacket. I said bye and shut the door behind me.

Yujin was waiting in front of my house. I said hi and started walking. She saw the bothered look on my face.

"Your parents again?"- she asked softly.

"No shit"- I replied, not really wanting to remember our conversation.

"It will get better soon, don't worry."- Yujin said putting her hand on my shoulder. I brushed her hand in anger.

"It's not gonna get better and you know it! They are always like this! Comparing me to my siblings who are successful, even though I'm still in high school! Never seeing my achievements! They never say they are proud of me! In their eyes only my brother and sister exist! I'm so sick of it! They don't want to leave me alone!"- I screamed in frustration, but I calmed down when I saw Yujins scared face. I sighed.

"Look, I'm sorry. It's just that, this keeps happening every day and I can't take it anymore"

She smiled apologetically.

"I understand, don't worry."

I smiled as well and we continued walking to school. We parted our way because we are in different classes. I entered the classroom and sat in the back because I don't really like socializing with idiots in this school. In front of me were my two friends Hyori and Jiwoo. I greeted them and pulled my biology book out. The teacher came in the lecture started. In the middle of her explaining the mitosis, the classroom door swung open.

"Yo, sorry I'm late."

I rolled my eyes and continued looking at my book. The person who was late (no surprise there) was Eunbi. She was one of the popular kids. She and her friends would always ditch the class and go to the rooftop to smoke and do whatever god knows what. Nothing good comes from socializing with her. Despite her annoying and disrespectful behavior, she is very smart and gets best grades. Well second best, after me ofcourse.

She looked around the classroom and started walking towards me. What the fuck. I realized that the only empty seat was besides me. Great, this day can't get any worse. She smiled at me and set down. Jiwoo and Hyorin looked at me with uneasiness and turned to the board.

I tried my best ignoring her presence and focusing on the lesson. I felt her staring at me which made me uncomfortable and I turned to her.

"What?"- I asked and the annoyance in my voice was obvious. She continued staring at me for next couple of seconds.

"You're cute."

What the fuck. I felt my cheeks heating up a bit and turned to the board and whispered 'weirdo' but loud enough for her to hear. She chuckled and turned to listen to the teacher.

"Okay students, we finished our last lesson for this week. We are going to have a group project. You will be working in a group of two, and every pair will get the topic and do a presentation. I will give you the materials but you still have to do research on your own."- the teacher said and started going through some papers.

I hope I won't get paired with some lazy idiot, my grades are important to me after all. I started looking around the classroom trying to find the best option.

"Oh, I forgot to say. Your project partner will be the person you're sitting next to at this moment. You can't change your partner so I recommend all of you to get along because this will greatly influence your final grade."

I turned pale. No. No way. I can't work with her. She's unreliable and doesn't care about her grades. She probably won't even try to do the assignment. I will have to do everything by myself. I my misery I looked at her and she was already looking at me smiling.

"Isn't this great? Were project partners now. We look good together don't you think?"- Eunbi said not taking her eyes off me.

I looked at her in disgusted and disappointment. She's stupid if she thinks I'm happy about this. She saw my face expression and laughed.

"Don't worry babe, I got this"- she winked at me.

"Don't call me babe."- I put my books in my backpack and hurried out of the classroom to meet Yujin. I need some advice.
