Valerian stands looking at the fresh dirt that is her fathers grave. Silent tears stream down her bowed face as her people stand behind her waiting for her to tell them there next move. She sends him a quick prayer and turns to face her people. "We will move towards graylark." She starts walking thru them to the front of the group and heads towards the rundown town that she hasn't been to in many years. It's a town that's covered in sand and crumbling buildings. There are a type of wild pig that roams there from time to time that they will hunt. Graylark is right in the edge of there territory and the plains people. Food is getting more scarce as the years go on. No one wants to talk about how the world is slowly dying. Everything on it is changing as certain plants and animals die the others have to adapt or mutate and learn to eat things they normally wouldn't. But that's life these days. Everything on earth has maybe 100-150 years left she's guestamating. Valerian often wonders if there is another survivable planet out there that they could somehow get to. She plans to change things with her leading that's why she wants to head to the rundown city. Two men her age and a 17 year old girl are very smart and she hopes to find some salvageable old technology to work on to maybe one day look for a new home so that the last of human kind can make it somewhere else and keep the race going. She hopes but she fears it'll only ever be a dream and not a reality.

It's been a few hours walking when she calls for a break under a collapsed bridge another day or so from graylark. There are only so many places to rest on there two day journey to graylark and she plans to stop and let the people rest as much as possible. Thirty minutes later back to trekking they go. As they walk Spencer comes to walk beside Valerian. "Do you till want Zack, Jace and me to look for tech in the city?" She looks at Valerian as she talks. "Yes. I plan to give humanity every chance to make it. Weather anyone wants to admit it or not the world is dying. I want the human race to survive as long as possible and I know many people agree with me but are to afraid to speak up and have word get out, fearing what the other groups will think. I don't care I think the more people that know the more help we will have. More of a chance. That's why when we are done in the city we will head to the Sea people." A few gasp come from listeners behind the two women. Whispers strike up and Valerian turns to her people. "You heard right. We will venture to the Sea people depending on what we find. It's time to be united and not divided. We need each other more than ever now. Let's keep moving it's getting dark." She yells out to the hundreds of people listening. They are scared of what will happen when they cross into unknown territory but they trust there leader to do what's best for them. There are a few people who do not agree but they don't argue they keep there negative thoughts to themselves and continue following Valerian across the desert.
