My Clandestine Love (SHORT STORY - COMPLETED)

Prologue

Every girl's dream is to have a fairytale like relationship. A prince falls in love with a princess, and poof, they live happily ever after. But in reality, that isn't likely to happen. There are billions of people on earth, what is the probability that the person we love feels the same for us?

I am just an average girl in our school. By average, I mean, not that smart and not so dumb either. I can't say that I excel in school, 'cause I don't. I'm also not tall, and my face don't really standout among the crowd. My complexion is fair, my hair is black, straight and waist length. My favorite color is pink. I always loved to go to the library to read. I have always been fascinated with books, it arouses my curiosity and helps widen my vocabulary. My favorite spot in the school is our mini garden just at the back of the buildings. It has so many flowers, all of different kinds and colors. I love watching how the garden seems to glow as the light of the sun illuminates it. Across the garden is a wooden bench, where I would usually sit to eat my snacks.

At times, I would also go near the open field. There are also benches here where students can sit and relax as they watch a football game or a practice game. Our school is also surrounded by tall trees. As I sit on the bench, my hair dances while the wind blows. I opened the book I was reading. I would look at the open field just to steal a glance of him. He was there, sitting on the grass along with his friends. While they were laughing their asses out, he just sat there and ignored them. He put on his earphones and started reading just like I did. I can't help but to stare at him for some time. He was like a star, when I looked at him, he seemed so near but when I reached out my hand, that's when I realized how far he was. And how hopeless this love is.

He is in the same class as I am. Our class president, and not to mention our top rank. He has been number 1 since first year and I have always admired him from a far. He is tall and his body is lean. His hair is dark, and brushed up. His eyes were blue because he's half Filipino and half American. He looked so good even when he was just wearing his uniform. And when he smiles, it feels like the heaven opened its gate and let an angel out. He is popular not only in our room but in the whole campus as well. He has received countless invitations, flowers and even gifts from his admirers but he never gave anyone a chance. Maybe he was really focused on his studies, or maybe he already has someone close to his heart. He's the type of person who will immediately capture your attention when he starts to speak. He has won several competitions on extemporaneous speaking for our school. Even the teachers are admiring him, saying that he's a perfect student and that we should see him as a role model.

I once again stole a glance on him, but immediately looked away when I saw her. She sat beside him, and he let her share with his earphones. They were smiling as they were talking, or were they singing? I don't really know. I know I'm not in the position to feel mad or jealous, because after all, we don't really talk. He isn't my boyfriend and I'm not even sure if he's aware of my existence but damn, it hurts. It hurts so bad to see him smile and talk to her. Well, what can I say? She's one popular girl. Every boy in our campus is smitten by her beauty. She has that long curly hair, her skin is white. She is sexy. And on top of that, she is our rank 2. They have always been on our top, but she never beat him even once. They're both intelligent, and maybe they both share the same interests. While I was just a nobody. Who am I compared to her anyway?

I stood up and gathered my things. Maybe its best to just avoid them than to keep on torturing myself with their presence.
