Music genres are all over the Detroit are these days. Rock is still in and big. Pop is slowly making its way into the picture. And well, I'm just trying to grasp it all in at once. Get an understanding of each and every song out there. It's 1987 in Deadborn Heights: the music is on every street. So it's a little harder than you'd think.
But for now, I'm just a junior at Crestwood Heights with two "psychotic" parents and an over-achieving eighteen year old sister. My parents aren't really so crazy. My mother is a stay at home mom so she is with or around us all the time. Yes, her bubbly, energetic self gets to us sometimes but we still love her. My father is never home. He's always at work writing the obituaries or if he's lucky, the sports column for the local newspaper. When he is home, he is in his study trying to write the new Bourne Legacy or It. In my opinion, he's just trying to stay even farther away from us. Then there's my sister, Alicia or Lee is what we call her, is too serious for her own good. She is so set on keeping herself the best she can be; physically, mentally, and emotionally. It gets annoying, but it'll be better when she goes to college, I'm sure, I think.
You see, it's a perfect balance at our household, my father and I are quiet and reserved and my mother and sister are crazy and outspoken. If we ever fight, one of us will have each other's backs. Nothing ever turns into a real problem. It's probably because we are all so close. But it's a nice close. Not one to be embarassed about.
One thing that my parents constantly annoy me about, though, is my ear for music. The "Note Genius", what I call it anyway, is this "tool" in my head that allows me to literally tell you a song title even after just listening to one note or two. It comes in handy to my classmates when a song is playing on the radio that they don't know. My music teacher thinks I'm some sort of a "prodigy" I guess. He is constantly trying to get me to join some of his classes and "improve my talent".
Butt I'm not that intersted. All I want to do is get out of this place. Go somewhere. Anywhere. Basically I'm like every other kid my age. We all want to do something with our livesand explore the world. I don't know if I want to be that extravogent. But I do want to do something. I have yet to find out what that will be, but I'll know. Someday.
