As Adeline sits on the bus, the cold biting at her skin, the girls in the back of it don't bother to keep quiet about her appearance. She's numb to the words but at the same time they cut like a knife leaving deep wounds in her mind. She makes herself as small as possible, squishing herself into the window close enough that she thinks she'll merge with it. The bus finally stops at her destination and she gets off as quickly as she can trying her best to ignore the snickering of the women that seem louder that a bullhorn.
