"I am not guilty for bring what I am." I repeat to myself to reassure myself that what I am about to do is not as bad as it seems. After my conscience got knocked out, I was finally free to to do my job without feeling guilty.
I am an exotic dancer. I am not doing it for the money or for the attention. I dance to express myself. My line of work is frowned upon by ignorant people. Ever since I was a little girl my dream has always been to be a dancer. As a child I was very timid and always kept to myself. I was always known as the mousy girl. Dancing helped me say the things that I couldn't voice out loud. My only wish, when it comes to my profession is that I was clothed more. I would love to be seen on stage as part of a Broadway musical. I remember when I was fifteen I saw my favorite Broadway musical of all time, Wicked. The lights, the music, the costumes, the makeup, I instantly fell in love with it all. I have been dancing ever since I could walk. I've been in the exotic dancing industry for about seven months now. My goal is to collect $20,000 and move to New York City. Get into Julliard and maybe even audition for a Broadway musical. That used to be me.
Now I am a Broadway star. I play Elphaba in the famous Broadway musical known as Wicked. I did not attend Julliard. I never made up to $20,000. I was actually discovered. So one day a business man walked into the club that I used to dance for and payed me to take him to the back room. This had man surprised me. Instead of wanting a lap dance he spoke to me. He said he could tell that I was a good dancer and that he saw potential in me. Before he left he gave me his business card. After my shift was over it was time for me to go home to my 250 square foot apartment. While I was watching my favorite dancing show I couldn't help but think about what the business man had said to me. I picked up the card and got on my computer from 2010 and did some research. I found out that the business man was actually a famous Broadway producer! Two weeks later I took a long shot and called him. The next day I was on a plane to New York City. I auditioned to be a backup dancer on Wicked. About a week later I got a call back from the man who had informed me that I did not get the part I had auditioned for. Right before all hope was gone he said, " Would you settle for the role of Elphaba instead?" I was super shocked at what I had just heard. He was asking me if I wanted to play Elphaba. Me! I was very overcome with joy as I said yes.
"Elphaba! You're on in 5!"
I have to go. My show is about to start in five minutes. Wish me luck Journal!
