Sinead felt herself sinking in the couch she was sitting. The house was silent, she could only hear the sound of the clock ticking with rhythm.

Tick..

Tick..

Tick...

Sinead crossed her arms and felt sharp pain on the right one. “Shit what the-?” she stopped when she saw a bruising that started being created on her arm. She looked at it in disgust and depression for a brief second and then dropped her head on her hands.

Her father had left an hour ago. He will probably come back tomorrow, she thought and rubbed her eyes with her hands. There were times she felt like nobody cared about her. And that was one of those times.

She was feeling deeply hurt. Mentally and physically. She slowly touched her body at the back of the couch and stayed there waiting for a miracle to come.

Sinead touched her fingers on her lips and immediately the thought of Hamilton kissing her came in her mind. It was the first time someone, even that jerk, had made her feel special. And that was something important for her. But how should I feel for him?, she thought and tried to think. Why am I attracted by a heartless jerk?

She slowly looked around her in boredom and confusion. And then her eye froze at the sight of the house next to hers out of the window.

What the-?

Her eyes widened as she saw Hamilton looking at her from the window of the next house with her neighbor (Ryan or Ronny or what's his name anyways?, she thought and kept her focus on Hamilton who looked shocked too.

Neither of them moved. They just kept looking at each other like a cat looking at a mirror.

And after a few seconds that seemed liked eternity, Hamilton turned around and just like that walked away from the window. Sinead slowly slipped from the couch to the floor and lied down there.

What just happened?, she thought and looked around nervously. Hamilton was stalking her from the next house.

She wrapped her hands around her body. What kind of pervert stalks someone wearing pijamas?, Sinead thought and ran up to her room and covered herself with a blanket.

She was feeling like that weirdo bully was looking at her even now.

I need sleep, she thought and put her face on the pillow. She hadn't realized how tired she goes til she felt asleep faster than she thought.

When the bell rang the next day at school, Sinead took her book and walked at the corridor to go to the library. The corridor was full of students.

Sinead always hated being in a crowded place. She felt like she was a small mouse in front of all those people and that they would walk over her and that even if she would scream, no one would listen her...

She sighed and walked along the corridor, while all the others were chatting or laughing. It had been almost two weeks since she had came to Higlight High School. She wasn't a really sociable girl, so apart from just knowing some people's names, she had no friends.

She was about to walk down the stairs to move to the library, when she heard a voice behind her.

“Hey, I think this is yours” She turned around and saw a boy holding her history book. He was taller than her, but not as tall as Hamilton. He had soft brown hair and big dark brown, like chocolate, eyes.

He actually looked nice.

He smiled at her widely. She smiled shyly, and felt her cheeks turning red. She took the book and put it in her bag.

“Thanks..” she whispered.

“Well, it's nothing” he said and itched the back of his head. “I'm Jaden by the way. Jaden Cox.” He showed his hand at her and she shyly shook it.

“I'm Sinead Starling” she told him.

“That's pretty name” he said making her blush like crazy. He thinks my name is pretty.., she thought sheepishly.

“I didn't mean to embarrass you or something, really!” he tried to explain as he saw her face turning red.

“No, it's just that no one has told me this before” she simply whispered.

“Well, I guess I'm the chosen one” he said and she left out a small laugh. He smiled at her and continued. “I saw you multiple times at the library, reading a book.”

“Yeah...” she said. He is going to say I'm a nerd..., she thought and her mood fell down. In all her 16 years, there were many people calling her nerd, and that was something that was hurting her much more than anything. She looked at the floor waiting for him to mock her.

“Well I was thinking...do you wanna join the book club?” he asked her sheepishly. She fast took her face from the floor and looked at him.

“The Book club..?” she asked in surprise.

“Yeah...I am also in the book club..and me and the others are taking care of the library and the books and stuff” he explained and looked at her in hope. “So..?”

“Well..I don't know..” she said and looked at the floor.

“Look...you don't have to answer now...really. I mean..you can come with me now and meet the others and see if you like it and..then you can choose I guess” he said and at the end took a big breath. “Do you wanna come with me..?”

Sinead looked into his dark brown eyes. What can I lose anyway?, she thought and smiled shyly at him.

“Well...why not?”
